Valley Bushveld Country Lodge is an owner managed, successful, four Star, safari-style Country Lodge in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. The Lodge is built on a private game reserve on the banks of the Coegas River and is nestled just 200 meters off the main R75 en-route to Addo, Kirkwood and Graaff-Reinet.
Valley Bushveld Country Lodge hosts an abundance of wildlife in their natural environment. A total of 17 species of South African antelope such as Giraffe, Blue Wildebeest, Sable, Kudu, Zebra, Impala, Nyala, Bushbuck, Waterbuck, Duiker, Grysbuck, Springbuck, Warthog, Bush Pig, Meerkat, Mongoose, Fox, Porcupine, Jackal, Lynx and primates such as Baboon and Vervet Monkey can be viewed on a game walk or from the patio at the Lodge. A large variety of birds, including bird of prey such as the majestic Black Eagle, nests in the evergreen bushveld, the rocky slopes or in the trees next to the river. The magnificent Flora resembles a natural succulent garden with Aloe, Euphorbia, Spekboom, as well as protected Cycads and indigenous Strelitzia. It is here where the Giraffes are at home in tranquil and relaxed surroundings. Our reserve is the only area left where the indigenous Strelitzia (birds-of-paradise) plants can be found in South Africa and therefor our reserve offers the perfect playground for photographers of Nature and Wildlife.
The unobstructed and breathtaking panoramic view of the rocky peak and distant mountains, fine dining with traditional cuisine, unsurpassed sunsets and unique story telling, contributes to a relax and joyous atmosphere. Spoil yourself in the Jacuzzi while sipping on South African Champagne or a superb Estate Wine from our Wine Collection. The view from the Jacuzzi is breathtaking and there is the unexpected chance of spotting wild antelope grazing close by.
During the cold winter evenings, you will always find a fire going in the huge fireplace; curl-up and relax! On a warm summer day you are welcome to soak up the sun next to our swimming pool and have a chilled South African beer or a South African Signature Cocktail on the patio-deck.
We are in very close proximity from renowned reserves like Addo Elephant National Park, the world famous Shamwari Game Reserve, Cheetah Breeding farm, Elephant Back Safaris and the oldest Private Lion Game Reserve in the area.
An absolute favorite among guests, and highly recommended, is to arrange a 3 or 4 day stay with us to make use of our organized day trip safaris. These organize day trips includes the Addo National Elephant Park or any of the other game parks. Our safari tours and options will give you an experience which cannot be forgotten. You will have the opportunity to touch and interact with Cheetahs and hold Lion cubs in your arms. This gives you picture opportunities that is truly unique. A day visit to Jeffreys Bay the surfing paradise of South Africa, is also a big favorite. The ultimate of course, is to combine a trip to Addo National Elephant Park and an Elephant Back Safari experience, which includes an approximate 1 hour elephant ride, and a 1 hour guided walk, following these gentle giants through their natural habitat. You will also have the opportunity to feed the elephants their favorite snack.
