Set in the heart of the Lowveld in the Schagen Valley on the Maputo Corridor 10 minutes from Nelspruit, the capital of Mpumalanga. Alkmaar Farmstay is on a citrus and macadamia nut farm, and within close proximity of the Kruger National Park. It is also perfectly located for exploring the Lowveld tourist attractions like Blyde River Canyon, Pilgrim’s Rest and Sudwala Caves. It is also the ideal stopover en route to Mozambique. The bush camp is ideal for group bookings.

Alkmaar Farmstay is a birdwatcher’s paradise with nesting white fronted bee-eaters, resident paradise flycatchers and long crested eagles being seen regularly. Mountain Biking, Hiking, fishing as well as a scenic 4X4 route and off-road driver training.

Our aim is to provide a weekend wedding retreat for our guests and it’s ideal for group bookings. We have different accommodation options for you and your guests and we only book one wedding per weekend. This means that your guests can arrive on Friday and leave on Sunday. The Honeymoon Cottage is a stunningly decorated unit with a beautiful view over the dam and Crocodile River valley. It features a king-size bed and 2 bathrooms. There also a sitting area and kitchen. There is a verandah with a fireplace.

Kudu Camp

The Kudu and Gemsbok Camps consist of four tents each tent can sleep, with 4 people. Tents have a double bed and two single beds. Each tent also has its own bathroom with a shower. The camp kitchen is equipped for self-catering

Maroela Tented Camp, overlooking one of the dams on our beautiful property, offers 4 safari tents. Each tent has its own bathroom and can sleep up to 4 guests. The camp also features a braai area and a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge, freezer, gas.

Directions:

On the N4 towards Nelspruit. We are situated 16 km west of Nelspruit on the N4 Highway. At the Alkmaar/Rooiuitsig sign (Kwanyoni Lodge), turn south on the dirt road (right if you are traveling from Gauteng direction). Do not go on the tar road to Aklmaar Station, Enter the 1st Gate on the left at Alkmaar Farmstay Sign. Follow the Alkmaar Farmstay signs for 2 km.
