Zulu Rock Lodge offers guests accommodation in stone-clad chalets overlooking the valley below. With its rocky hillside position and panoramic views of the African bushveld, Zulu Rock Lodge entwines comfort with a touch of African-inspired wilderness.
Visitors to Zulu Rock Lodge can enjoy the abundance of wildlife in the surrounding Babanango Game Reserve, which boasts 19,895 hectares of pristine wilderness waiting to be explored by conservation and nature enthusiasts.
This rich area harbours abundant game species including Cheetah, Leopard, Brown Hyena, Jackal, Buffalo, Hippo, Rhino, Giraffe, Zebra, Eland, Red Hartebeest, Kudu, Nyala, Mountain Reedbuck, and the elusive Aardvark and Aardwolf. Lion and Elephant will be introduced by late 2022.

Besides being home to an abundant species of game, our reserve is also home to 32 species of butterflies and 311 species of birds, including the rare Pel’s Fishing Owl and Narina Trogon. The Reserve is also home to Black Eagles, Lappet-Faced and White-Backed Vultures, Crowned Eagles and nine breeding pairs of Blue Cranes.
Guided nature drives are available from the lodge twice a day. Coming soon, guests can experience our Cultural Tours to the nearby battlefield of Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift.
In-room Facilities: Decorated to minimalist tastes with clean lines and curated Zulu artefacts, the lodge’s stone-clad chalets are spaced out for privacy and designed to maximize the views, allowing the natural surroundings into the built space.
Featuring 7 luxurious suites and sleeping up to 18 people, guests will fall in love with this intimate bush setting while sitting on the fire deck enjoying panoramic views or cooling down in the pool.
OUR SUITES AND VILLA
Deluxe Suites: Zulu Rock Lodge offers two Deluxe Suites, which are an ideal choice for couples who prefer to be close to the main lodge and pool area. These suites boast a private patio with an outdoor firepit, providing guests with the perfect setting to unwind after an exciting day.
Luxury Suites: Three luxury suites provide a stunning panoramic view of the Babanango Game Reserve. Guests can relax on the overhanging cliff face decks, taking in the wildlife roaming the valley below. Each of these suites is located away from the main lodge to offer guest privacy.
Family Villa: The Family Villa, set away from the hillside and fenced from free-roaming wildlife, is an excellent option for families of up to four people. This two-bedroom suite offers a relaxed, fuss-free atmosphere, complete with a private pool and boma, providing ample space for children to play safely. Additionally, it boasts a private indoor and outdoor lounge, kitchenette, a guest bathroom, 2 on-suite bedrooms with private patios, and is located far from the main lodge, offering the utmost privacy and seclusion.
Romance Suite: Located furthest from the main lodge, is Zulu Rock Lodge’s most romantic room. This expansive suite is a perfect choice for couples looking to set the tone for a lifetime of bliss. It boasts a private swimming pool, sun loungers, and seductive swing bed overlooking the valley below.
This Family Villa features two en suite bedrooms. Elegantly separate furnished lounge with sleeper couch, cosy fireplace, dining room, kitchenette, and guest toilet. The villa also offers an undercover fully furnished courtyard with table and chairs as well as a comfortable corner couch. Guests can enjoy the villa’s private firepit and heated plunge pool with reserve and valley views.
This Hilltop Luxury Room features twin beds, a cosy fireplace with two armchairs. The bathroom has heated flooring with a separate bath and shower. The suite also has its own private deck with outdoor seating and panoramic reserve and valley views. A special turndown service is offered, and daily housekeeping is provided. It also comes with air conditioning, a fully stocked minibar and tea-and-coffee-making facilities.
The Honeymoon Suite is set slightly apart from the rest of the lodge for extra privacy. Elegantly furnished and featuring panoramic views of the reserve and valley below, this suite has a four-poster king-size bed, a cosy fireplace with two armchairs. The bathroom has heated flooring with a separate bath and shower. The suite has a private deck with outdoor seating, a hanging day bed, a private heated pool and sun loungers.

Covid-19 : Should guests be unable to travel due to Government enforced travel restrictions, or guests have tested positive for Covid-19, a credit voucher will be issued to the same value of made booking. Further T’s & C’s apply.
PAYMENT POLICY
• All reservations require a 50% deposit to secure booking date/s
• All deposits must be paid within 72 hours of making a reservation - failure to receive funds in the stipulated time will result in cancellation of your reservation
• Full and final settlement of a reservation must be made no later than 14 days before arrival
• Any reservations made 30-days or less before arrival will require full settlement within 24 hours of making a reservation
• Payments can be made via bank transfer / electronic funds transfer (eft), online with your VISA debit card, VISA credit card or Mastercard through our online payment portal, which is hosted by PayGate or Cash deposits, however, be aware that cash deposits will attract a fee of 3% of the amount payable.

Welcome to King Shaka International Airport!
Your journey to Zulu Rock Lodge is almost complete.
Please fill up with petrol at the station located right next to the airport- as the next petrol station is 40 km away.
There will be three toll gates on the way which require cash or a credit card. The fee ranges from ZAR11.50 to ZAR20.00.
From King Shaka, merge onto the N2 North towards Tongaat and travel 79 km.
Take Exit 277 (the Gingindlovu turn off) for the R66, continue for 800 m then turn left onto the R66 towards Gingindlovu/Eshowe/Ulundi.
Travel for 103 Kms passing through Melmoth town, Continue on the R66 until you merge onto the R34, towards Vryheild.
Continue for 41 Kms.
Look out for the Zulu Rock Lodge sign on your left.

Children staying in a room by themselves will be charged the full adult rates.
Game Drive Policy:
No children under the age of 8 years on game drives (unless private vehicle booked).
Should you wish to book a private game drive (subject to availability and limited to 2 drives daily) or your family this can be arranged at an additional fee of R3,500 per drive/per day.
Kindly note that the guide will use their discretion at certain animal sightings for children under the age of eight for their safety.
