Barn Owl Lodge is a self-catering bush haven set in the Big 5 Mjejane Game Reserve. This peaceful and luxurious bush home, in the Greater Kruger National Park, created for the love of nature and wildlife.
The home boasts a magnificent view up Hector Spruit ‘small river’, and is surrounded by leadwood, jackalberry, wild fig and marula trees. Relax on the patio or in the pool, while watching the animals as they come for a drink. Enjoy the sight of resident eagle owls, hammerkops, pearl spotted owlets, numerous kingfishers, water monitors and crocodiles.
The lodge consists of three en-suite bedrooms; two with king beds and one queen bed. Two bedrooms open onto the patio with a view of the ‘spruit’ small river. The lodge has a central area with lounge, bar, dining area and open-plan kitchen with separate scullery, pantry and courtyard. Air-conditioning and fans are provided throughout.
The highlight is the 80-square metre patio with built-in braai, wine cooler, fans, dining table, daybeds and seating for game viewing from the deck, in comfort. Enjoy the sparkling pool, leading off the deck, with a long seat for game viewing from the pool. Undercover carport parking for 2 cars is provided, space available for additional cars, on the property.
Mjejane Game Reserve allows cars on the main roads to the residential areas. Morning and evening private game drives can be arranged and self game drives are available in the Kruger National Park.
Barn Owl Lodge is situated in the Mjejane Private Game Reserve, positioned on the Kruger’s southern boundary between the Malelane and Crocodile Bridge gates.
The Game Reserve is made up of 4000 hectares of wild African bush. Mjejane is a big five game reserve, with 10km’s of spectacular Crocodile river frontage. There are no fences between Mjejane and the Kruger National Park.
Birders are in for a treat, without leaving the house, an abundance of bird life bounce around the bushes and trees.
Nights can be interesting with the wildlife orchestra, anything from Eagle Owls, Pearl Spotted Owlets, Scops Owl and Nightjars, competing with the sounds of Hippos and the big cats.
Please note that Mjejane Game Reserve charges a Conservation levy of approximately R250 per vehicle, upon entry. This is not included in the daily rate. Payment is by card only upon entry.
