Barton, in South Africa`s Western Cape province, is located off the R43 road leading to Hermanus. Lying at the foot of the Hottentot Hollands mountain range in the Botriver valley it borders the Kogelberg National Eco Park on the one side and looks across the valley to the Bablionsberg mountains on the other.
It is just one hour`s drive from Cape Town International Airport and twenty minutes from Hermanus and the beaches of the South Atlantic ocean.
Destinations include Greyton, Stellenbosch, Franchoek, Swellendam, Gordon's Bay, Betty's Bay and Cape Aghulas (the southernmost point of Africa). Beaches There are extensive uncrowded, sandy beaches around Onrus, Kleinmond and Hermanus.
Fly-fishing Barton's dams are stocked with rainbow trout, and guests are more than welcome to cast a fly. Tennis Barton's hard court, with its mountain views, is available to all guests. Racquets and balls are available on request.
Golf Barton is just five minutes' drive from the Arabella championship golf course. There are also golf courses in Hermanus (a thirty minute drive) and Kleinmond (a twenty minute drive).
Barton has its own short hole and putting green. Fynbos In the heart of Kogel National Eco Park, Barton hosts a world famous heritage site for fynbos. Horse riding There are two local equestrian facilities and arrangements can be made for riding on the Kleinmond beaches to see the wild horses.
