Bhejane Game Reserve is tucked away in the picturesque Groot River Valley, 50km east, north-east of Willowmore.
It is situated halfway between Steytlerville and Willowmore, consisting of densely vegetated riverine bush, koppies, kloofs in a malaria free area.
It covers an area of more than 3700 hectares and is bordered by mountains on two sides with the perennial Groot River running through the entire property.
Note that this is a malaria free area.
The perennial Groot River makes this an oasis for animal life and contributes to an exceptional variety of birds and other animals.
Bhejane is not a big 5 reserve, but boasts with 28 hoofed species which probably makes it the game reserve with the largest selection of hoofed species in Southern Africa. At Bhejane we want you to be able to explore and experience on foot what nature offers.
Accommodation
All accommodation is self-catering. Each facility is booked out exclusively to only one party at a time to ensure total privacy.
Bhejane Lodge:
This lodge have a stunning view over the Grootrivier mountains and is situated close to the lapa, bar and swimming pool.
It consists of 2 rooms and a nice braai area.
Bush Camp:
Consisting of one luxury en-suite tent built on a deck with a double bed and four smaller dome tents with 4 single beds in each, all on the river edge.
One can even fish without leaving the comfort of ones wooden deck.
Luxury River Chalets:
There are two chalets available, both are right on the river bank. This makes it a great fishing spot for fresh water fish like carp, barbell etc. You have a wide view of the valley from your bath.
Sleeps up to 4 adults per chalet, or 3 adults and two kids.
Dining
For those not interested in selfcatering Bhejane offers two meals a day; brunch and dinner, but need to be booked in advance.
Game drives (day or night) are available on request. Game drives in your own vehicle are also welcomed during the day. Some areas are only accessible in a four-wheel drive vehicle.
You are also encouraged to explore on foot, seeing that this brings nature the closest to you.
Bird watching is very popular as the area offers the bird lover a large variety of birds.
The river has pools providing you with fishing and swimming opportunities.

From Willowmore : Drive north out of town on the N9, take the Steytlerville/PE turnoff just outside of Willowmore. Travel for 30 km on the concrete road, then turn left at the Klipplaat turn-off and travel for 10 km. Turn right and follow the road untill you reach Bhejane.
From Port Elizabeth : Travel to Steytlerville. From there take the Willowmore road and travel for 31 km . Turn right and follow the road for 16 km untill you reach the Bhejane reception.
