Boardwalk Lodge - Self-Catering

Since 1999, when the main Boardwalk Lodge - Self-Catering guesthouse and first self-catering chalets were opened to the public, the lodge has hosted visitors from all over the world. Situated within the boundaries of the Garden Route National Park and the Constantia Kloof Conservancy, Boardwalk Lodge offers a peaceful retreat from where to discover the treasures offered by Wilderness and the Garden Route.

Boardwalk Lodge - Self-Catering takes its name and inspiration from the famous lagoon-side boardwalk at the Wilderness section of the Garden Route National Park an inspiration carried through to the resorts unique construction. The various units are linked with wooden walkways.

The tranquillity of the location and top-class facilities provide the perfect setting to relax. Cool-off in the lodges crystal-blue swimming pool, spend an afternoon searching for the beautiful Knysna Lourie from the comfort of your private deck, or cosy-up in front of satellite television for an evening of intimate entertainment.

Accommodation at Boardwalk Lodge - Self-Catering:
The Boardwalk Lodge Wilderness provides accommodation in Wilderness. Its buildings blend into the backdrop of one of South Africas most beautiful stretches of indigenous forests and overlook the blue Indian Ocean and surrounding lagoons.

Boardwalk Lodge Wilderness offers superb accommodation in the Garden Route to suit your pocket and purpose, ranging from the convenient luxury Bed & Breakfast rooms and studio suites, to the superior fully-equipped, self-catering timber chalets. All the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with both shower and bath.

Boardwalk Lodge Wilderness is built on a forested slope and features stairs to reach the various rooms or chalets, but the view is worth the climb!

The main guest house buildings are styled in a luxurious yet modern Afro-contemporary manner and consist of 4 luxury bedrooms, 2 luxury 1-bedroom studio suites, each with private deck. The Breakfast Room is also located in the building. The rim-flow swimming pool is located below the luxury rooms and Breakfast Room in lush, landscaped gardens. Between 20 and 30 steps link the main guest house buildings.

The self-catering timber chalets are located higher up on the slopes and are styled in a comfortable, yet contemporary manner. Spacious open-plan living areas have been cleverly geared towards catering for any season. Between 10, 130 and 150 steps are required to reach the various chalets.

Luxury Rooms:
The 4 Afro-contemporary-styled rooms are situated in the main guest house building and face the sea and the village of Wilderness. Each room has its own private entrance.

3 Of the rooms have modern bathrooms with a massage shower and a massage bath, the 4th rooms bathroom has a modern regular shower and modern slipper bath. Order one of our Cheese & Wine platters to enjoy on the small wooden deck while watching the beautiful sunset!

This Afro-contemporary-styled private suite is situated in the main guest house building and faces the sea and the village of Wilderness. It has its own private entrance, a large bedroom and lounge area and the small equipped kitchenette allows for minor catering. The modern bathroom has a massage shower and a regular slipper bath. The wooden deck has a gas BBQ grill that allows for late afternoon sundowners and snacks order one of our Cheese & Wine platters or our Barbeque Pack to enjoy while watching the beautiful sunset!

This Afro-contemporary-styled private studio suite no. 2 is situated in the main guest house building, above the Breakfast Room and faces the sea and the village of Wilderness. Ideal for 2 adults with 1 or 2 small children. It has its own private entrance, 1 en-suite bedroom, a separate lounge area and the equipped kitchenette allows for minor catering. The bathroom has a bath and shower-over-bath.

The large wooden deck allows for late afternoon sundowners and snacks order one of our Cheese & Wine Platters to enjoy while watching the beautiful sunset!

You are most welcome to use the BBQ facility at the pool area order one of our Barbeque Packs to enjoy while relaxing beside the swimming pool!

One Bedroom Simplex Bed and Breakfast or Self Catering Chalets
These 2 timber chalets are situated high on the slopes, offering spectacular views of the village, lagoon and sea. The simplex chalets are very private and ideal for couples or honeymoon couples.

Each simplex chalet has 1 en-suite bedroom (with bath and shower), a large lounge, a fully-equipped kitchen with a dining area leading onto a large deck. The wooden deck has a gas BBQ grill that is ideal for late afternoon sundowners and snacks order one of our Cheese & Wine Platters or our Barbeque Pack to enjoy while watching the beautiful sunset!

STEPS TO REACH THE CHALETS: If you or any person in your party have any difficulties climbing many steps, please note that due to the location and high elevation of the lodge and the chalets, there are 140 or 150 steps to climb up the winding boardwalk from the parking area to reach the two simplex chalets. A porter service is provided free of charge and the view is worth the climb!

These 3 timber chalets are situated high on the slopes, offering spectacular views of the village, lagoon and sea. They are very private and ideal for families or honeymoon couples.

The 3 chalets have 3 levels: on the main level there are the 2 en suite bedrooms (each bathroom with a bath and a shower), a fully equipped kitchen with a dining area; 8 Steps down is a mezzanine level with a gas fireplace and on the 3rd lower level is the lounge leading onto a wooden deck with a table & chairs, 2 sun loungers and a gas BBQ that allows for late afternoon sundowners and snacks order one of our Cheese & Wine Platters or our Barbeque Pack to enjoy while watching the beautiful sunset!
The Duplex chalets may be taken as a 1- or 2-bedroom chalet.

STEPS TO REACH THE CHALETS: If you or any person in your party have any difficulties climbing many steps, please note that due to the location and high elevation of the lodge and the chalets, there are between 8, 50 to 130 steps to climb up the winding boardwalk from the parking area to reach the chalets. MEALS
Breakfast: Full English breakfast is served each morning from 08:00 until 10:30.
Breakfast is available to the Self-catering chalet guests as well at R85 per adult and R50 per child u/12, child u/5 free. Please advise us ahead of time.
Dinner: there are many superb restaurants in the village of Wilderness; please allow us to assist with dinner bookings.

PLEASE NOTE
Stairs: Boardwalk Lodge is built on a forested slope and access to rooms or chalets require climbing stairs. If any persons in your party have a problem climbing steps, please notify us when making a reservation, as we cannot guarantee alternative rooms/chalets on arrival.
