Buhala Lodge is an enchanting five star colonial style thatch roof lodge, situated on the Southern banks of the Crocodile River. The ample outdoor veranda space, provides all guests an opportunity to relax and dine outside while admiring gorgeous views of the Kruger National Park, and all the wild life splendor it has to offer.
Members of the Big 5 are frequent visitors to our property along with many other species such as a variety of antelope.
Our eighteen bedrooms are divided into four room types namely the Standard rooms, Kruger Park River rooms, Kruger Park Balcony rooms and the Elephant Garden suites. All our rooms are beautifully furnished with en-suite bathrooms and free standing showers.
The lodge is a family owned and run business which focuses on guest comfort and relaxation paired with all the luxury you would expect.
A fully licenced restaurant and bar is situated at the main building. Buhala Lodge is well known for fine cuisine and our exceptional wine list showcasing only the finest South African wines. Meals are served either al fresco on our veranda, or in our gracious dining room and the whole ambiance is one of casual elegance.
Our guests have the rare opportunity to play golf at the exclusive Leopard Creek Country Club. The golf course, usually reserved for members only, offers players a wildlife experience while challenging their golfing skills on South Africa’s number one golf course.
Safaris into the Kruger National Park are arranged and done by our very experienced guide. Early morning walks and even night drives can also be arranged as well as any and all transfers that might be needed.
Our open deck bush spa with sweeping views over the Kruger National Park and the Crocodile River, provide a variety of treatments for those who wish to relax after a long day.
Accommodation at Buhala Lodge:

Each room at Buhala Lodge is beautifully furnished in an elegant English colonial style. All the rooms are fully air conditioned for guests` comfort and have an en-suite bathroom including a free standing shower.
The Standard rooms are spacious rooms that have each been beautifully decorated. Each room is air conditioned for guests’ comfort and each room has tea and coffee making facilities along with a view over the gardens and the mountains. Each room has a private en-suite bathroom.
The Kruger Park Balcony rooms are large rooms, individually decorated. Each room has large glass doors that give the whole room a very open feel. The rooms have views over the Kruger National Park and the Crocodile River and has tea and coffee making facilities as well as air conditioning and an en-suite bathroom.
The Kruger Park Balcony room have beautiful views over the Kruger National Park and the Crocodile River. Each room has a private balcony from where this view can be enjoyed in the privacy of your own bedroom. The rooms are all individually decorated and are air conditioned with tea and coffee making facilities.
The Elephant Garden suites are not situated at the main hotel but at the bottom of the garden. The two suites each have a private outdoor sitting area with beautiful views over the Kruger National Park and the Crocodile River. Each suite has a full bathroom including an outdoor shower for the adventurous types. The suites also share a beautiful little splash pool overlooking the Kruger National Park and the Crocodile River making it the ideal suites for two couples travelling together or a couple travelling with two adult children.
All the rooms have tea and coffee making facilities.
Buhala Lodge Activities:
We have our own safari vehicle and guide and we do safaris into the Kruger National Park. Our very experienced guide is very knowledgeable and the safaris are always a treat (even if you don`t get the Big 5 every time). A variety of other activities are also available such as tiger fishing nearby and even Panorama route trips. Please feel free to ask our front office when making a booking about any available activities.
An open deck bush spa is also available on the property for pampers and treats such as massages, pedicures and manicures.
The area is rich in South African history being the setting of the old Delogoa Bay road. We are situated a mere 15 minutes drive from the Malelane Gate to the Kruger National Park and also offer safaris into the Park. The lodge overlooks the Kruger National Park and the Crocodile River.
We are situated on the southern banks of the Crocodile River overlooking the Kruger National Park. Safaris into the Kruger Park are a major attraction. We are also able to book our guests onto Leopard Creek Country Club which is usually reserved for members only. They welcome our guests with prior arrangement.
We have our own safari vehicle and guide and we do game drives into the Kruger National Park. The drives start from 05:30 in the morning and we send a delicious packed breakfast along to enjoy in the bush. The drive returns to the lodge at 15:30 in time for our daily tea time offering.
Night drives done by the Kruger National Park and also arranged by us. They start from the Malelane Gate to the Park so guests will have to self drive to reach the gate. Early morning walks are also arranged by us and done by the Kruger National Park.
Other activities in the area include tiger fishing and even an interesting trip through a Swazi Village including dances and traditional food as well as a tour through the village.
Traveling on the N4 highway you would go through Nelspruit come to a village called Malelane.
From the Malelane village you continue on the N4 for another 12 km after which on the left you will see our large white gate posts clearly marked Buhala Country House, Buhala Game Lodge and Kenworthy Estate.
Turn left through the gates, cross the railway line with care, continue for 2,4 km and you will arrive at Buhala Game Lodge which has a common gate with the farm house. At this point you take the right hand fork to Buhala and not the straight ahead road to the farm house.
