Desert Camp is situated only 5 km from the entrance gate to Sossusvlei and Sesriem Canyon in the Namib Naukluft Park. Nestled under centuries old thorn trees, Desert Camp offers an unsurpassed view over the desert landscape and surrounding mountains.
The affordable, self-catering accommodation units are equipped with an en-suite bathroom, shaded veranda with a fitted kitchenette, barbeque, power points and an adjacent parking area. Each air-conditioned twin-bedded bedroom features a fold-out sleeper couch where 2 small children, under 12, can be accommodated for free when sharing with their parents.
Meals can be enjoyed at the nearby Sossusvlei Lodge restaurant. Exciting desert activities like Guided Excursions to Sossusvlei, Walks to Elim Dune, Sundowner Drives and magnificent Scenic Flights over the dunes and coast can be booked at the Sossusvlei Lodge Adventure Centre.
A fully stocked shop, fuel and an Internet caf is available at the Sossus Oasis Service Station.

Facilities at Desert Camp:
Facilities at the main building include a fully stocked and serviced bar with big screen television, a sparkling swimming pool and 2 communal boma-areas which are perfect for groups traveling together. Utility boxes with most utensils needed for self-catering are available at reception and fresh food supplies can be ordered daily.
Desert Camp Activities:
A demarcated walking trail is available at Desert Camp that can be enjoyed at own risk.
The views over the desert landscape and surrounding mountains provides a photographer with endless opportunities for the most spectacular nature shots.
The Sossusvlei Lodge Adventure Centre provides a variety of exciting activities to discover the Sossusvlei area.
Each spacious unit has air-conditioning, twin beds, space for suitcases, shelves, hanging space, an electronic safe and a sleeper couch for two small children (under 12). En-suite bathroom with walk in shower, toilet and wash basin with vanity space. Patio has barbeque facility that allows views over the vast Desert plains, kitchenette with a wash up area, under counter fridge, 2-plate hob and a wooden bench for seating.
The two wheelchair friendly units also available.
- We require your final rooming list by 45 days prior to arrival
- You can cancel rooms or groups up until 30 days prior to arrival without incurring penalties
- Should we not receive a cancellation by 30 days prior to arrival we will automatically confirm the reservation and an invoice will be sent accordingly.
Any cancellations for whatever reason within 30 days prior to arrival will incur penalties:
- 30 to 23 days prior = 10%
- 22 to 15 Days prior = 35%
- 14 to 7 Days prior = 50%
- 6 to 1 Days prior = 90%
- No Show = 100%
- Our reservation office will follow up on all reservations 60 days prior to arrival. It is however your responsibility to send your final rooming list by 45 days prior to arrival.
- We do not automatically cancel on 45 days or 30 days – your reservation remains your responsibility and confirmation on cancellation must please be communicated per email
- Note that provisional bookings is still a booking holding a room and is therefore treated on the same conditions as any other reservation in our system.
- In case of cancellation no refunds will be processed for reservations where a deposit or pre-payment was received – we shall however issue you with a N$ voucher valid for 2 years which you can use for any reservation as payment.
- The above terms can however be revoked at any time should our industry circumstances drastically change – any changes to the policy will however be communicated to you in advance.
- Kindly still cancel your reservations per email as per the above terms even if lock downs and travel bans are in effect – we do not always know the Nationality of your guests, refuse to assume that all bookings may be released, and still need a paper trail for all bookings made or cancelled.
Sesriem is situated at the intersection of the C27 road from Helmeringhausen and the D826 which brings traffic in from Solitaire in the north and Maltahhe in the south when it joins with the C19.
The entrance gate to Desert Camp is located on the lefthand side of the D826 road, 8 kilometres from the T-junction intersection with the C19.
