Driftwood - Best beach holiday ever! - This KwaZulu
Natal South Coast self-catering, beachfront cottage is a modern oasis for the
city weary. Our front garden gate opens onto a narrow strip of indigenous
vegetation (admiralty) which is all that separates you from the beautiful blue
flag Southport beach.
Besides being a very popular KwaZulu Natal South Coast fishing beach, Southport
is very conveniently situated in close proximity to many delightful
restaurants, golf courses and shopping facilities.
Driftwood sleeps 10 people. It has 4
bedrooms with the main bedroom being en
suite. A large rain shower room with loo and basin serves bedrooms 2 & 3
and a 3rd bathroom is adjacent to
the 4th bedroom. All bathrooms have showers (no baths). Three of the bedrooms have queen size beds
and the 4th bedroom has 2 sets of adult sized bunk beds. We like to call this the “kids room” as there
is plenty of space for games between the bunk beds. All 4 bedrooms have fans and large cupboards.
This beautiful holiday home includes an open-plan lounge with 55” flat screen television and a DVD with a sound bar supplying surround sound & includes a full package DSTV. The lounge opens up onto a large (45m2) under roof verandah with a 10 seater dining table, sideboard, hostess food warmer and hot tray. The verandah overlooks a sparkling swimming pool (with safety net if required) the beautiful garden with massive Milkwood trees, surfboard shower and braai and the inviting Indian ocean.
The verandah is furnished with an outdoor lounge suite and a magnificent 4 meter long hammock. The fully fitted kitchen offers a filter coffee machine, dishwasher, microwave, electric oven and gas cooker and a large fridge and freezer. T he entrance hall has a 4 seater breakfast bar (opening through to the kitchen) with a second smaller fridge and freezer for drinks. There is also a large drinks cabinet. Down the passage is a washing machine and tumble dryer for your personal use.
The property has recently been renovated and the furnishings and décor are tasteful.
The main bedroom also offers wall to wall stacker doors which open up to the veranda and sea view. Open plan living at its best!
You will love the “sundowner spot” with its magical ambiance overlooking the beach. A place to sip your champagne and recharge your batteries!
Bedding, bath towels and beach towels are all supplied.
The cottage is fully fenced and pet friendly. Secure parking is available to guests. The property has state of the art security with a screen showing its 7 cameras, beams and alarm system.
Please note that this is a non smoking establishment. Smoking is permitted on the veranda. Also, no loud music and no noise after 10pm.
For the adventurous, the ever-popular Oribi Gorge beckons some 25 kilometres away, or for the gamblers at heart, the Wild Coast Sun is only 50 km down the nearby highway.
We are situated 7 kilometres from the Port Shepstone Country Club and Golf Course (voted the best golf course on the Coast for 4 consecutive years). Avid golfers also have access to a number of the South Coast’s other renowned golf courses, all within easy driving distance: Southbroom, San Lameer, Port Edward, Margate Country Club or the Wild Coast Sun.

Directions from Durban:
Drive South down the N2 and take the Hibberdene turnoff (R102).
Continue along the Old Main Road (R102) towards Port Shepstone for approximately 17 km and turn left at the traffic lights at the Southport petrol station. IMMEDIATELY turn left again and head back towards Durban on the small service road parallel to the main road for about 200 meters.
Take a right turn into Anerley Road and go past the local Hunters Pub and Grill. Proceed up and over the hill and head down towards the sea.
At the bottom of the hill proceed OVER the railway line to the T junction.
Turn right into Fiddlewood Road and a 100 meters down the road, on the left, you will find number 8 – Driftwood.
You’ve arrived in a small part of heaven!
