Fern Gully is a macadamia farm, 18kms outside Knysna on the Rheenendal road to the historical Millwood Goldmines and the Goudveld indigenous forest.
A visit to the site of the old goldmines at Millwood or a walk and picnic at Jubilee Creek, is a 15 minute car drive away. Buffels Bay, popular for swimming and surfing, is the nearest beach and hiking, biking and horse trails are within close vicinity.
The gully that gave the farm its name runs through the bottom half of the land and the cabins, being built on stilts, at the edge of the gorge give the impression and ambiance of being in the tree tops. They are so positioned as to provide maximum seclusion and privacy and each cabins deck faces its own view through the trees.
Fern Gully Forest Cabins are within easy access to Knysna and Sedgefield and all the scenic and recreational activities they have to offer.

Fern Gully is on the Rheenendal Ramble arts & crafts route.
Rheenendal road takes one to the Millwood Goudveld Reserve and onward to the scenic Homtini 7 Passes scenic drive.

The cabins are uniquely different and each one has its own distinct appeal.
Each cabin is fully furnished and equipped for self-catering ease. Fridge, hot-plate, microwave, crockery, glassware, cookware, bedding, and bath towels. TV reception is poor in the forest so a DVD player is available for movie watching. Braai facilities are on the deck and as well as an indoor shower, there is a hot & cold outside shower.
Owl & Hoopoe cabins` are perfect honeymoon getaways being very private and romantic.
Owl Cabin, the pioneer cabin is entirely built of wood, even to its shingled roof! It is decorated with the feel and natural tones of the forest and is a perfect romantic getaway for honeymooners.
Coucal Cabin has two double bedrooms, one being a small cosy dormer room upstairs and a third bedroom with two single beds. It has a spacious living-room and open-plan kitchen.
Hoopoe Cabin, more spacious than Owl is decorated in the colours of the beautiful Hoopoe and its outdoor shower has an even more spectacular view through the tree tops and is frequently visited by a troop of vervet monkeys.
Porcupine Cabin has an en-suite bedroom and open-plan kitchen/sitting-room leading onto the deck and can sleep an extra person (adult or two children) on a sleeper-couch in the sitting-room but preferably it is a 2 berth.
Fern Cabin en-suite bedroom with a walk-in shower and the spacious open-plan kitchen/sitting-room can sleep an extra two people on a double sleeper-couch. It has a fire-place and braai facilities on a wrap around deck over looking a small pond.

2 double bed rooms, 1 twin so sleeps 2 couples and 2 singles, open-plan kitchen/sitting-room, deck with braai, additional outside shower
