Fort Sesfontein Lodge is situated in the north western part of Namibia, close to the Hoanib river, on the southern side of Kaokoveld.
Today, almost 100 years after the original establishment of the Sesfontein Station, the fort has acquired a second lease of life after being tastefully restored as a comfortable Lodge for tourists on individual holidays.
The fort offers comfortable double bed rooms and suites with bath/shower, bidet and toilet. All rooms are arranged around the centre court which has been trans-formed into a unique oasis-garden by plantation of old paim tree stock.
Use of building materials characteristic of the region, such as clay walls, stone floors and reed linings convey a very special and original atmosphere.
The visitor can also expect the most modern facilities as the standard of the bathrooms, supply of warm water from solar cells, mosquito net for the four-poster bed, and the fitted ceiling fan can testify.
The former officers mess has been refurbished as a restaurant with integrated lounge and bar. The very spacious Swimming-pool offers the guest opportunity for refreshment and exercise.
Fort Sesfontein is ideally placed to discover the southern regions of Kaokoland.
From here you can explore Himba villages and with some luck spot desert elephant wandering down the river valleys in the area.
Fort Sesfontein offers guided day trips in 4x4 vehicles to the highlights of the region. Local guides are also available for those with their own 4x4 transport.
The family rooms can accommodate up to 4 people. There is a bathroom with a bath and shower. There is a coffee tea maker available and bathroom amenities.
The Standard Room features a double bed/twin to accommodate 2 guests. There is a bathroom with a bath and shower.

Sesfontein is situated in the north western part of Namibia, close to the Hoanib river, in the southern part of Kaokoveld. A gap in the mountains gives access to the valley basin of Sesfontein (six fountains) where green gardens give the landscape its special character.
The distance from Windhoek is approx. 600 km. The destination can be reached by car from Kamanjab (233 km) via the C40/43 or from Khorixias (275 km) in approx. 3.5 hours.
The gravel roads are in good condition and can be used also by car and mini-bus.
Between November and March we recommend a 4x4 vehicle.
