Nestled in the rolling foothills of the Maluti Mountains of the north eastern Free State lies the Golden Gate Hotel in the Golden Gate Highlands National Park.
The park derives its name from the brilliant shades of gold cast by the sun on the park`s sandstone cliffs, especially the imposing Brandwag rock, keeping vigil over the main rest camp. The highest point in the park, reveals a breathtaking tapestry of red, yellow and purple hues as its warm shades merge with the cool mountain shadows towards evening.

More rooms had to be incorporated, which is why the current hotel boasts 54 splendid rooms (20 more than the old hotel). Guests can stay in any of the rooms and experience the breathtaking scenery of the surrounding mountains and lush landscapes. 43 of the rooms are north-facing, ensuring an all year sun-basking stay.
Three-quarters of the rooms are fitted with showers, and the rest have baths. The new hotel is also fully compliant regarding universal accessibility for mobility challenged patrons.
Winter browns enhance the newly crafted presidential suite, with enough spaciousness that allows a comfortable retreat for either private relaxation, official meetings with dignitaries or intimate private entertainment. The bathroom is fitted with both a bath and a shower.
As for the honeymoon suite, newlyweds can rest assured that they will kick off their marriage in style. Dark chocolate and heart red garnish the rooms colors of love, with a fabulous open plan design that is nothing short of spoiling. A Jacuzzi bath and shower (large enough for two) completes the rooms aura of intimacy and cosines.
Chalets
Guests can stay in any of the chalets and experience the breathtaking scenery of the surrounding mountains and lush landscapes. Rooms are north-facing, ensuring an all year sun-basking stay.
The rooms are fitted with showers to freshen up and a fully equipped kitchen to ensure that you can dish a hearty meal. Each chalet also has its own “braai” area for those holiday around the camp fire meetings.
Winter is nothing to be afraid of since all the chalets are equipped with panel heaters to provide a warm and cosy environment. If that doesn`t get you warm then our beds, fitted with electric blankets and plush duvets will heat things up for you.
Restaurant:
The beautifully decorated restaurant of the Golden Gate Hotel has one of the most memorable views imaginable as the large windows face the golden Maluti Mountains.
The sophisticated restaurant on the middle floor is suited for both private dining and lavish functions, with enough space for up to 300 diners. Every guest at the Golden Gate Hotel, from the holiday maker to the conference delegate, will feel rejuvenated after having a meal at the restaurant.

The beautifully decorated cocktail and coffee bar lounge of the Golden Gate Hotel has a spectacular view of the Brandwag rock and the very large windows ensures that your view remain unobstructed of this landmark also known as the buttress.
The cocktail and coffee bar lounge have been added to the top floor, ensuring visitors easy access. The fire places along the side of the lounge will ensure that you keep warm and snug during the cold winter moths whilst enjoying a hot cup of Milo or glass of Glhwein. Every guest at the Golden Gate Hotel will feel relaxed after spending some time in the lounge.

Sports Bar:
The vibrant sports bar is on the lowest floor, with an upbeat dcor that is most definitely worth bragging about. Apart form the remaining staircase, a new panoramic lift connects all three floors.
Make sure that you visit us over the weekend to ensure you see your favourite sports team in action - from rugby to soccer we will help you in viewing that important game.
The sports bar is also a great place for you to close of a hard days conference or to have your wedding guests relax in while you take photos.

No cancellation fee will be incurred for cancellations made after payment of first deposit up to and including 46 days prior to arrival.
- Cancellation fees equal to 50% of the total reservation cost is payable in a case of cancellation made between 45 days and 30 days prior to arrival.
- Cancellation fee equal to 100% of the total reservation cost is payable in a case of a cancellation made between 29 days prior to and date of arrival
