Hilltop Resort is the pride of the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park. The Resort is situated on the edge of a forested hill and offers fine views of the surrounding countryside. It is a three-hour drive north from Durban via the N2
The resort holds the distinction of being the oldest tourist resort in KwaZulu-Natal, and provides a wide variety of accommodation.
The Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park is a premier, Big Five park; home to lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. Its rich plant-life, grasslands and forests support a wide variety of other game animals. The Park lies in the heart of old Zululand and is rich in history dating back to the early Iron Age and the hey-day of the Zulu Kingdom of King Shaka. It contains many historic sites. This fascinating game reserve covers 96 000 ha and is comprised of the Hluhluwe and iMfolozi Game Reserves. The Corridor Game Reserve, established in 1989, links the two older parks.
The Centenary Centre, an easy drive from Hilltop, provides guided access to the Game Capture Complex, as well as presenting the visitor with an interpretation centre on game capture, a community-run craft market and refreshment kiosk.
Accommodation options at Hilltop Resort:

- Twenty 2-bedded rondavels with communal ablutions and kitchens
- Seven 2-bedded self-catering chalets
- Twenty two 4-bedded self-catering chalets
- Twenty 2-bedded chalets, which are none self-catering, are within close proximity to the main reception area
The units are serviced daily by chalets attendants. All units with the exception of the rondavels have DSTV with hotel bouquet.
The complex has a well-stocked gift shop and convenience shop. All chalets are equipped with DSTV. Internet access is also available for accommodated guests. Please enquire at the reception office for password and cost.

- Jungle gym
- Fuel pump station and kiddies corner facility, which gives us a competitive advantage amongst the rest. Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Park is a perfect park which offers experience combines with excellent tourist facilities with superb game viewing and bird watching in a beautiful setting.
The Park is run in accordance with the vision and mission of Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife. Their mission is to ensure effective management and sustainable use of KwaZulu-Natal’s biodiversity and protected areas in collaboration with the community.
GAME DRIVES MAIN CAMP
- Game drives are conducted in open viewing vehicles and are a popular tourist attraction in the reserve.
- Each drive is approximately 2 - 2.5 hours in duration.
- Depending on the number of guests booked, drives are conducted in 10 seater open vehicles.
- An additional vehicle can only be provided once the first one is fully booked.
- Should guests prefer to be on their own in a particular vehicle they will be required to pay for the outstanding seats.
- Guests are requested to book all activities at reception where they will be requested to make payment as well as completing an indemnity form.
- All drives are scheduled in such a way that they are back in time for meals in our restaurant.
GAME WALKS (NO CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 12)
- Game walks are offered on a daily basis and are conducted by a guide. Each walk is limited to 8 people only.
Self Guided Trails:
SELF-GUIDED TRAILS UMBOMBE TRAILS:
- This ten minutes trail starts from the swimming pool and end by chalet 3(three) or vice versa and it is ideal for those who would like to stretch their legs.
- It takes visitors through the forest with clearly posted informative boards.
- Visitors are warned against the possibilities of encountering dangerous game although the resort is fenced.
Hides
- There are three hides in Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park.
- Game viewing is best in the dry season from June to October, between 09:00 and 12:00.
- Be patient as it well worth your while to spend several hours at your hide.

Facilities and Services
FRONT OFFICE - The front office is open from 07:00 19:00 daily.
SIGHTINGS
BOARD - The sightings board is located in the reception area. Guests themselves, who indicate on a daily basis their sightings for the
benefits of others, manage it. Guests are therefore encouraged to please indicate an accurate sighting.
SWIMMING POOL
The swimming pool is located at the Northern end of the camp, beside the rondavels and is available for the use of residents only. There are no towels provided at the swimming pool and guests are therefore requested to bring towels from their chalets. No diving is allowed at this pool and children are not allowed to swim unsupervised.
PICNIC SITES
The reserve has two picnic sites (Siwasamakhosikazi and Maphumulo), with ablutions and braai stands facilities. They are situated in several scenic spots which offer spectacular views and are ideal for game viewing. For guests convenience the hiring of gas service is available at Maphumulo picnic.
THE MPUNYANE RESTAURANT
Our famous Restaurant would like to tempt your taste buds by providing you with delicious meals. Our breakfast and dinner is served daily as follows:

LIGHT MEALS
Guests are invited to enjoy light meals or coffee in the form of A la Carte which could be ordered from our professional waiters
whilst taking a lovely view from our look out point with coin operated telescope.

BOMA
- We welcome group bookings in our Boma venue. Groups will be required to make arrangements with Mpunyane Restaurant should they want to utilize this facility. A minimum of 20 guests will be accommodated.
CURIO
SHOP - Our Curio Shop is well stocked with a variety of items ranging from clothes, curios, books, cards, photographic films, binoculars,
beers, wines, cool drinks, wood, charcoal and so forth, and is open everyday between 08:00 19:00
BRAAI FACILITIES
Each self-catering chalet is equipped with a braai stand. We request you not to move this facility to the verandah or into the chalet. Please use it on the designated areas only.
FILLING STATION
For your convenience a filling station is available by the resorts entrance and is opened at 07:00 12:00 and 13:30 to 17:00. The station offers
Hi-octane, Diesel and air. We unfortunately not in the position to repair punchers. We accept cash and recognized petrol or garage cards.
Cheques, MasterCard and/or Visa Cards are not acceptable as a form of payment at the filling station.
HOUSE KEEPING
Your chalets are serviced daily between 07:30 and 14:00. Should you require your towels to be changed please leave them on the floor. Should you require your room not to be serviced please hang the Do not disturb sign provided in the chalets. For your convenience pull
out beds are provided in self-catering units and should you require this service please inform reception before 15h00.
BABY COTS - Baby cots are available upon request from Housekeeping.
LAUNDRY SERVICES
Coin operated washing machines, tumble dryer and hand wash facilities are available at the rondavel complex, or contact house
keeping prior to 15h00 for assistance.
BATHROOM RETRACTABLE
DRYING LINE - For your convenience each self catering chalet has been equipped with a retractable drying line, where costumes, socks and other laundry may be hang. Please do not hang any washing from the verandah.
BABYSITTING
- Should you require a babysitter please make arrangements with reception before 15:00 and will do our best to assist you.
BLANKETS
- Additional blankets are stored in the wardrobes, should you require extras please contact housekeeping through reception or the duty
manager.
ICE - Available at the curio shop.
DO NOT DISTURB
If you do not wish to be disturbed, indicate this by hanging the “Do not disturb” sign on the outside of the door handle.
CHARCOAL / WOOD - Available at the Curio Shop.
CHECK OUT
We request you to check out by 10:00 to afford us sufficient time to prepare for the next guests. Please keep your checkout receipt safe,
as it will be requested from you when signing out at the main gate.
ELECTRICITY
- Although our chalets are supplied with electricity, we also have a back up generator which switches itself on during Eskom power
disruptions.
MONKEYS
Feeding monkeys is strictly forbidden. Do not leave food unattended. Please keep all the windows and doors of your chalet closed thereby avoiding temptation for the monkeys. For your information displaying of fruits will tempt them to do all they possible can to gain access to your chalet.
ANTS
We request you to assist in keeping the area clean at all the times by ensuring that there is no oil or sugar spill-over as this could serve as main attraction to ants.
TV`S IN CHALETS
Each chalet has been equipped with a TV with satellite dish. We offer only hotel baguettes. Please see TV operational enclosed for more information.

All bookings are confirmed once payment or partial payment is received.
Cancellations greater than 45 days prior to arrival = 10% of amount (min R100)
Cancellation within 45 to 30 days of arrival = 25% of the amount.
Cancellation within 29 to 15 days of arrival = 50% of the amount.
Cancellation within 14 days & arrival date = 100% of the amount.
Amending booked dates is as good as cancelling a booking if it falls within the cancellation period. Same policy applies to amending a booking.
Cancellation policy are voided when booking dates are amended to be cancelled to avoid cancellation policy. So once dates are amended, cancellation policy are not applicable.
High season is applicable over public holidays, school holidays, long weekends, events and high occupancy periods. Tariffs may differ to those advertised.
The recommended route from the north or south is to turn off the N2 at Hluhluwe village and follow the tarred road to Memorial Gate.
An alternative route is to turn off the N2 at Mtubatuba on to the R618 and proceed towards Hlabisa and travel for 27 km to Nyalazi Gate.
