Hippo Hollow is non-traditional with a refreshing Out-of-Africa vibe leaving you feeling totally relaxed. All rooms and chalets have en-suite bathrooms and tea/coffee facilities and are furnished with touches of local wood for a traditional finish.

River and Garden Chalets: If you are looking to escape the rat race, these chalets are for you... They do not have televisions, telephones or WI-FI. The River Chalets are perfect for families with a loft room and two single beds, while the Garden Chalets are a great retreat for couples.

With it’s hot summers and mild winters, Hazyview hosts a humid, subtropical climate. Here the hot summer days are often cooled by afternoon or evening rainfall and the warm winter days boast cloudless skies.
Temperatures vary in summer (October – April) from 18°C – 40°C and winter (June – August) from 8°C – 25°C.
Hazyview has Summer rainfall, with the most rainfall measured between November and February with an average of 767mm per season. It receives the lowest rainfall (±3mm) in June and the highest (±139mm) in January.
The area is reputed to have the best climate in the world for banana growing and you can see row upon row of these lush tropical plantations while travelling through the area. A great number of tropical and semi-tropical fruits are also grown in the area.
Mosquitoes unfortunately thrive in the climate of the Lowveld. Should you be visiting the greater Mpumalanga area and the Game Reserves, please consult a local pharmacist or family physician for advice on the best anti-malaria drug or drug combination you should take before visiting.

The 12 air-conditioned thatched chalets all overlook the Sabie River and are ideal for small families. Each has a loft room with two single beds, and a private deck with river views offering the perfect setting for you to relax and rejuvenate. The 6 air-conditioned Deluxe River Chalets can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children. The Chalets have a loft with a sleeper couch and satellite television as well as a private deck overlooking the Sabie River. From Johannesburg or Pretoria, take the N12 or N4 highway to Nelspruit and White River, Then take the R40 to Hazyview. At the T - Junction turn left into Hazyview. cross over three stop streets and follow the Hippo Hollow signs. Just after the Sabi Road turn off, you will see the Hippo Hollow Country Estates on the left.
