Hout Bay Backpackers is a quiet and comfortable backpacker lodge in the beach-side suburb of Hout Bay.
Just 20 minutes from Cape Town, and easily accessible by public transport our hostel suits budget travellers wanting to explore Hout Bay (restaurants, harbour, beach, seal island, world of birds), discerning backpackers looking for a place from which to hike Table Mountain National Park or bike Chapmans peak, surfers wanting to surf Llandudno and travellers interested in township tours and meeting interesting international volunteers working on community development projects.
We offer 4-bed dorm rooms, a private twin room and a private double room. The private rooms also have separate entrances for increased privacy.
Hout Bay Backpackers is conveniently located within walking distance to the beach and shopping centre, where a variety of activities are offered. These include: Surfing, fishing, diving, sailing, sea kayaking, hiking trails, top restaurants, wine and township tours, and if that`s not enough there`s loads of live entertainment!
From the Airport:
Follow the N2 towards Cape Town, and take the M6 exit onto Rhodes Drive.
Turn right at the M63 exit towards Kirstenbosch. At the T-junction turn right towards Hout Bay.
Take the 2nd exit at the roundabout following the M63 signed for Hout bay.
3rd exit, right at the roundabout onto Victoria Ave. At the traffic Lights turn left (Victoria Ave).
Continue straight at the next round about and turn right onto Brighton Road, opposite KFC.
Turn left onto Albert Road, we are on the left, Number 14 (it says Harbour Lodge outside).
From Cape Town:
Follow the M6 through Camps Bay and onto Victoria Road. Follow Victoria Road around the cliffs for 10km.
Continue straight through the traffic lights. At the next round about continue straight.
Turn right onto Brighton Road, opposite KFC. Turn left onto Albert Road, we are on the left, Number 14 (it says Harbour Lodge outside).
Catch The City Sightseeing Bus:
Our backpackers is conveniently located on the Blue route of the Cape Town City Sightseeing Bus.
Hop off at stop 23, Mariners Wharf and walk along the beach towards the dunes.
Turn Right up Albert Road. We are on the right, number 14 (it says Harbour Lodge outside).
