Accommodation at Jacana Camp - Classic Camp:
These camps are designed in traditional safari style and are mostly stylish canvas constructions, often raised off the ground on wooden decks. Located in exceptional wildlife and wilderness areas, all offer superb facilities and accommodation. The camps range in size from 3 to 12 tents.
Surrounded by seasonally-inundated floodplains and papyrus swamps, Jacana Camp has five en-suite Meru-style tents, including a family tent, built on raised wooden decks to facilitate its panoramic views of the Okavango Delta. The main dining area is on an elevated platform between two magnificent sycamore fig trees and surrounded by dense wild date palms. Jacana Camp also has a cosy lounge with an area for an open fire under the stars; and a plunge pool for cooling off in the midday sun.
Wildlife at Jacana Camp:
Jacana Camp is set in the Jao Concession, a true wetland area, ideal for the rare sitatunga and abundant red lechwe. In the summer months when the inundation has receded, lechwe, tsessebe and elephantare prevalent, while lion, and occasionally leopard, may be seen. Wildlife concentrations in this area of the Delta depend on water flow and volume, changing from season to season. Birdlife is abundant; enthusiasts can spot Pel`s fishing-owl as well as African and lesser jacanas and other Okavango specials such as slaty egret and African pygmy-goose.
