The truly luxurious Karongwe River Lodge is set upon the fertile bank of the Makhutswi River and offers the comfort of 5 star accommodation. A private watering hole that is home to many hippo and crocodile can be enjoyed from any of the 13 exclusive suites.

The luxury suites are designed to suit couples who want five star luxury with en-suite bathroom and total privacy. They also offer you spectacular views, wonderful wildlife sightings and the sound of the African bush.
Each room is built entirely from indigenous wood and has its own deck overlooking the magnificent Makhutswi River. These suites offer sumptuous decor and fittings, remote air-conditioner, ceiling fans, bar fridge and the facility to make tea or coffee. The bathroom has a beautiful dressing table, jumbo shower and the ladies favourite, a Victorian bath.
The family suites have been designed to accommodate families of four but can also accommodate five with the inclusion of a babies cot. Like all other accommodation types at Safari Lodge these are also built out of indigenous wood with their own private deck looking out across the camp onto the Makhutswi River.
In addition 2 magnificent executive suites have been designed and furnished to satisfy those who want only the best. Inside, a remote controlled air-conditioner gives you the desired tempreture you need during the hot summer and the cool winter months.
Each suite offers two queen size beds draped with mosquito nets. The bathroom is stunning with the Victorian bath being a main feature.
The magnificent "Presidential Suites" are designed for those with superior and exquisite taste. These spacious and private rooms offer sumptuous decor and furniture to satisfy the best of connoisseurs.

Conservation Fee:
On 1st January 2017, Karongwe Private Game Reserve will introduce a new conservation levy to the Karongwe Reserve. This levy is essential in the fight against chromalena, poaching, and many other activities that preserve the wildlife heritage of the Karongwe Reserve for future generations to come. Conservation levies are not included in the accommodation rates, and will be R40 per person and must be settled by the guest on departure at each respective lodge.

Child Policy:
- Children of all ages are welcome at Karongwe Portfolio excluding Kuname Main Lodge
- No children under 12 Years of Age, and Becks Safari Lodge – No children under 10 Years of Age.
- Children between 0 and 2 years old are accommodated on a complimentary basis and only pay Reserve Fees
- Children from the ages of 3 years to 11 years old are accommodated at 50% of the adult tariff, sharing a family room with adults

- Children 12 years and older are considered adults and pay the applicable tariff.
- NO children under the age of 6 years are allowed on any Game Drives unless the child is evaluated on the ground by the discretion of the Head Ranger and Lodge Management.
- Babysitting Facilities are available at an additional charge

- NO Bush Walks for Children under 16-Years
- Bushwalks are an optional extra, and only arranged at the Lodge, subject to conditions. This activity is also available for limited duration and is subject to approval on the ground, it is also subject to game movement and Karongwe Lodges reserves the right not to offer based on the safety of our guests. There is an additional cost for this activity and may not be exchanged for a normal game activity.
Deposits:
- No reservation is secure without a deposit.
- A deposit equivalent to 25% - 50% of the total accommodation is required within 7 days of confirmation for individuals (FIT’s) and within 14 days of confirmation 10% is required for a group to secure a reservation. For reservations, less than 30 days prior to arrival for individuals and groups, full pre-payment is required.
- The balance of the accommodation account is to be settled 30 days prior to arrival or, if the period is less, full prepayment will apply. Groups
- Cancellation/Release period for Groups - 90 Days - 50% of the unsold rooms must be released. - 60 Days - 75% of the unsold rooms must be released. - 45 Days - final rooming list is needed, any rooms cancelled 45 days before arrival will be subject to 100% cancellation fees
Private Driver/Guide rates apply which do not include game drives R1750 pn for 2024 & R1930pn for 2025 - FOC policy – 16 guests or more 1 driver or guide free of charge. This rate excludes Game Drives and the pppn, reserve Fees will be charged accordingly. - For groups, we require a 10% deposit and final commitment to confirm the reservation 90 days prior to arrival - unless other arrangements have been secured - Standard Cancellation Policy unless other arrangements have been negotiated Cancellation Policy
- Karongwe Portfolio reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee equivalent to any direct costs incurred by it in attending to the reservation plus a 10% administration fee for any individual bookings cancelled more than 42 days prior to the date of the scheduled arrival.
- In the event of a cancellation, less than 42 days, and more than 30 days prior to the date of the scheduled arrival, a cancellation fee in the sum equivalent to 25% of the full account will be incurred.
- In the event of a cancellation, less than 30 days prior to the date of the scheduled arrival, a cancellation fee in the sum equivalent to the full account will be charged (100%).
