Khaya La Manzi Guest Lodge is Zulu for Home of Water is a distinctive thatched lodge offering both bed & breakfast as well as self-catering units and a conference/training/functions facility with 180 degree sea views overlooking the Indian Ocean conveniently situated 2,5 km off the N2 highway for travelers en route North or South to Zululand Game Reserves, St. Lucia, Durban, Drakensburg, Port Edward, Wild Coast, Eastern Cape, Garden Route, Cape Town in Hibberdene on the South Coast of Kwazulu Natal.
All units have a kitchen /kitchenette and guests are able to choose if they wish to stay on a self catering or bed and breakfast basis. Either air-conditioned units or sea facing apartments.

Savor a glorious breakfast either alfresco on the lower sea facing deck or in the dining room while maybe being fortunate enough to witness the famous annual sardine run or watching whales and dolphins. Being 1km from a Blue Flag protected swimming beach and ski-boat launch site, take a stroll along vast stretches of open sand to the tidal pool, explore the fantastic marine life or find a serene fishing spot. Visitors may choose any of the numerous attractions and activities all down the length of South Africa`s KwaZulu-Natal South Coast from playing a round of golf at one of ten nearby golf courses to extreme adventure in Oribi Gorge or on and in the sea choosing ones own ocean safari. For the less adventurous there is bird watching, nature trails, lighthouses, arts and crafts or find a book in our library and relax in the courtyard garden or next to the pool. You will be spoilt for choice at Khaya La Manzi.
Khaya La Manzi Guest Lodge offers the perfect stopover for those traveling South to Cape Town, the Garden Route, Eastern Cape, Port St Johns on the Wild Coast as well as the inland route to Kokstad and the Transkei.
Alternatively for those travelling North the location is en route to the Southern Drakensberg, Durban International Airport, North Coast, Richards Bay and St Lucia.

We offer 7 air-conditioned suites with private entrances. King suite and Queen suite are Sea facing in the main lodge. These two open onto the large sea facing deck. Television, en-suite bath/shower with fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle with complementary tea and coffee. Sleep 2 persons in each.
Bachelor apartments 1 to 3 each have their own sliding door entrance off the enclosed communal courtyard. King size bed, bathroom en suite, television and kitchenette comprising fridge, microwave, mini stove/oven, basin, toaster and kettle with complementary tea and coffee. These are not sea facing and slightly smaller and easier on the budget. Sleep two persons each.
Family apartment 4 and 5 - These two apartments have a king size beds downstairs and 2 singles upstairs in the loft area (sloping roof) which overlooks the room. The loft single beds only suit children 6 to 13 years as stairs going up can be steep for toddlers and elderly. Kitchen area comprising fridge, microwave, mini stove/oven, sink, toaster and kettle with complementary tea and coffee.
On the tiled roof, non air-conditioned side we offer 4 apartments, all sea facing.
Whale is one floor up with king bed, kitchen and bathroom en suite. Bath only. Ceiling fans. Two persons.
Seahorse is on the ground floor and has a sea facing deck. Kitchen king size bed and bathroom en suite. 2 persons.
Two bedroom apartment Elephant is on the ground floor with two bedrooms. Double bed in each room. Ceiling fans. Shower only, full kitchen, dining room area leading into lounge and onto the deck. Max- 4 persons.
Two bedroom Dolphin is one floor up. Sea facing open plan dining, kitchen and lounge area. Full bathroom. Double bed in one bedroom and king bed as well as a single bed in the second bedroom. Ceiling fans.
Rooms are serviced daily.
Breakfast is by pre arrangement only and served in our dining area from 7 am to 9:30 am, Semi buffet style, mixture of hot and cold. Must be pre booked and is not included in accommodation quotes. Arrangements can be made for earlier breakfasts.
Activities:
Fishing and Whale Watching: Hibberdene have a launch site and various charters to choose from. Or you can wander down to our beach and fish off the beach or rocks. During our fantastically mild winter months you can also watch the amazing annual sardine run (if mother nature obliges).
Snorkelling, shark cage diving, diving: Available close by to the north and south at Aliwal Shoal and Protea banks. Swimming and surfing at our internationally recognised Blue Flag live guarded swimming beach and at many other spots a short drive away.
Eating Out and Shopping Malls: There is no shortage of restaurants from casual beach eateries to 4 star cuisine, most within a 30 km drive. Hibberdene itself has a beach restaurant and several take away places.
Adventure: Adventure addicts are not short of activities. At nearby Oribi Gorge (60 km) you can do a range of adrenalin sports such as white water rafting, a gorge wild swing and wild ride as well as stunning hikes into the Oribi Gorge.
Sport facilities: There are numerous top class golf courses nearby such as Selborne (23 km), San Lameer, Wild Coast, Southbroom and Port Shepstone (22 km). Tennis, squash and bowls are available at many of the local sports clubs.

Directions:
Travelling from Durban, take the N2 South: Take the Hibberdene R102 exit just past a massive Michael Freys sign. Turn left at the bottom of this ramp, and continuing for 2 km, watching for the David Drive signboard, turn right into David Drive and follow the Khaya La Manzi signs - 158 Riviera Highway, Hibberdene.
