Nestled in the heart of the St Isidor valley and surrounded by the lush farmlands and bird-inhabited waters of Ixopo, King`s Grant Country Retreat extends a warm welcome to guests and invites them to take the opportunity to relax and unwind in its unique atmosphere of peace and tranquility. Dating back to 1891 when it was built by the German Trappist monks, guests are now accommodated in the cluster of ancient red brick buildings which invoke the memory of days gone by and are surrounded by rose-filled gardens plus a small stream that wanders through indigenous gardens.
King`s Grant Country Retreat offers 13 individually decorated en-suite guestrooms, 3 of which have self-catering facilities, with private patios, DSTV bouquet, tea trays, heaters & fans plus free Wi-Fi hotspots. With the quaint St Isidor Chapel and spacious Tuscan-style Banqueting hall, it is the ideal venue for a romantic and intimate wedding. The Conference Centre which is housed in the St Isidor Mill can host up to 60 delegates, as well as smaller groups, with two breakaway rooms and a spacious lounge. Other facilities include the St Isidor Mill Museum, and a cosy, country-style restaurant.

On-site activities are exploring the history of Kings Grant and the Maize Mill - one of the few in the country that are still operational and Blacksmith workshop.
The 1200 ha estate offers bird-watching with over 200 species recorded, walks, fishing on two dams, canoeing at Brickfield dam or bring own mountain bikes.
Local activities to enjoy are the Patons Country Express a narrow-gauge steam train, mountain biking trails and bird-watching for species such the rare Cape Parrots and Blue Swallows.
