KwaMbili Game Lodge provides an authentic safari experience at an affordable price. KwaMbili is situated in the Thornybush Game Reserve near Hoedspruit, within the Greater Kruger area.
The reserve is home to the Big Five as well as an abundance of other game and bird species. This means good sightings on game drive or around the camp.
KwaMbili means “Place of Two” in the local Shangaan language. Our knowledgeable rangers will introduce you to the tracks, movements, sights and sounds which give you a window into the secrets of the African bush.
Back at the lodge, view wildlife from the safety and comfort of our well-positioned hide. If all this calls for time to just let the experience sink in, take a dip in the swimming pool, just relax in an armchair or enjoy a cool drink at the bar.
Accommodation at KwaMbili consists of a thatched chalet or large Meru style safari tents. All have shower and toilet and electric power, their own patio and mosquito nets over the beds. The chalet is positioned closer to the main building and is air-conditioned. The air-conditioned safari tents are further from the main building, each under a thatched roof. The flaps can be opened or closed according to the weather. They also have an open air shower and toilet.

Late afternoon, depart on a game drive, enjoy sundowners in the bush before continuing on an exciting night game drive.
Return to the lodge for dinner and a relaxing evening under African skies around the camp-fire.
The next morning, after an early wake-up call, enjoy tea/coffee and traditional rusks before departing on a walking safari. The focus is on the small things in the bush - learning to track animals, how termites live, what the various trees and plants are used for, etc.
Encounters with animals while on foot are always exciting!
After the exhilarating walk, a full English breakfast is served in the lapa.
A light lunch is served around 14:00.
The day can be spent at leisure: read and relax around the filtered pool or spot birds and animals from the hide.
Alternatively, numerous attractions in the area can be visited.

Rates include accommodation, all meals, tea, coffee throughout the day, as well as two guided wildlife activities per day (game drive or guided bush walk) and 15% VAT. It excludes beverages from the bar, personal expenses, and a R140.00 per person / per day conservation fee for staying in the Thornybush Nature Reserve (payable at the lodge).
The main lodge building consists of an open lounge and dining area and a bar and a boma for evening meals. There is a small swimming pool in the garden with deck-chairs. The reception office houses a small curio shop. Dinner is usually served in the boma under the stars and many safari stories are told around the campfire at night.
By Air:
Daily scheduled flights from both Johannesburg and Cape Town to Hoedspruit (Eastgate) Airport.
Transfers to and from the airport.
By road:
From Johannesburg take the N4 to Witbank, bypass Middelburg and then turn left off the N4 to Belfast.
Proceed to Dullstroom & Lydenburg and take the R36 to Ohrigstad and Strijdom Tunnel. Follwin the R531/R527 to Hoedspruit and continue straight to the the T-junction. Turn right to Klaserie.
After 6 km, turn left into Argyle Road and follow Thornybush signboards to Thornybush Game Reserve entrance gate. Follow the signs to Kwa Mbili.
