This historical old house was built in app. 1912 by the famous Boere Generaal, Gen. Koos de la Rey. His son lived here until his death at the age of 47. The house was then sold out of the family. Melville Gastehuis was established by Jan and Coral Fourie approximately 1990, to be the first B&B in town. The three bedroom B&B with shared bathroom facilities was then bought by Gert and Bettie Dry in 1997 and been renovated into a luxurious 10 en-suite bedroom Guest House establishment in 2006. They proudly manage this characterful old property for 17 years with so much love, care and Afrikaans hospitality, that many a guest return to experience the warmth and character of this charming Guest House. They retired in 2014 at the age of 75, passing the stick to their son and daughter-in-law, Jannie and Juanita Dry to carry on the spirit as a family business.
