Situated in the heart of Sodwana Bay, an UNESCO World Heritage Site, you will find Mseni Beach Lodge – the place of happiness, where laughter and joy resounds.
Our comfortably modern cottages and lovely beach house, are nestled in the beautiful indigenous bush of Zululand’s iSimangaliso Wetland Park. The cottages were planned, so as not to disturb the lush dune forest and most are tucked away among unspoilt surrounds.
With the advent of Covid-19, we have taken every precaution to ensure that your stay is not only relaxing, but safe as well. All accommodation is sanitized and strict safety protocols have been implemented and adhered to.
The pool area is ideally situated to make the most of our beautiful Zululand sunsets, while you relax on a pool lounger and enjoy the view over the park surrounds.
An enchanting private walkway leads down to one of the most breathtakingly beautiful and secluded beaches, on South Africa’s pristine coastline.
Watching the sunrise here is an amazing start to your day. This is also a great spot for the keen angler who enjoys rock and surf fishing. Whale watching from our restaurant deck between June and October is a highlight and an added bonus to the great food and warm and friendly service you will experience with us.

Mseni Beach Lodge Restaurant:
The restaurant overlooks the Indian Ocean and offers stunning panoramic views.
While sipping cocktails and sundowners on our restaurant deck, you can look for the seasonal passage of whales or regular sightings of dolphins. You may often hear the sound of cheering, as there is great excitement when eating mouthwatering food in the company of good friends and having our ocean neighbours passing by.
Mseni Beach Lodge restaurant is certainly the place where people arrive as strangers and leave as friends.
The restaurant is open from 06h30 until 21h00. Breakfast served until 11h00, while an À-la-carte menu is available throughout the day for lunch and dinner. We have a variety of mouthwatering dishes from delicious seafood platters to our famous Mseni prego roll and pizzas.
The iSimangaliso Wetland Park stretches along the pristine coastline of SA, from St Lucia Estuary in the south, right through to the Mozambique border in the north. This magnificent park encompasses the beautiful Sodwana Bay and surrounding areas. Situated inside the park, Mseni guests can enjoy the opportunity to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
If you are looking for something different, why not try one of the outsourced activities? Experience the Sodwana Bay Marine Reserve on a scuba dive. Whether you are an experienced diver, or keen to learn or just try it out, we are happy to assist you and we provide complimentary transport for your scuba diving activities. Deep-sea fishing charters, turtle tours (in season), micro lighting, walks around the area or trips to the nearby lakes etc. are all very popular. Whale watching during the Humpback Migration season is also an option here. These activities can be booked on behalf of guests at reception. Rates and activities will be supplied on request.

The climate here is warm, with humidity quite high in the summer months. Make sure to bring insect repellent, as although this is not a Malaria Area, we do still have mosquitoes and other insects.
Mseni Beach Lodge offers a choice of self-catering or bed & breakfast cottages, as well as a lovely beach house. All accommodation has a master bedroom with double or twin beds and bathroom en suite. Our self-catering Family Cottages include a small kitchenette, fridge/freezer combination and an outside barbeque area.
All the accommodation is serviced daily by our friendly house keeping staff and equipped with linen and bath towels. Please bring your own beach towels. There is a no-smoking policy inside all the units.
Family Cottages - These are self-catering cottages that accommodate 4 or 5 people. There are two bedrooms, each with a bathroom, a small kitchen with a microwave, hot plate, fridge/freezer combination and seating area. There is also an outside barbeque area positioned to enjoy the surrounding sand forest.
Forestview B&B Cottages each sleep two people and have a double or twin room en-suite, set amongst tranquil coastal forest. There are NO cooking or barbeque facilities in the Forestview B&B Cottages. It has a mini bar fridge and a kettle for tea/coffee making only. Breakfast is served in our à la carte restaurant, which is also offers lunch and dinner.
Seaview House is a lovely beach house that comfortably sleeps 10 people. The large open plan entertainment area overlooks the ocean, and a fully equipped kitchen, makes it ideal for larger families or groups.
Only written/emailed cancellations or amendments will be accepted. Kindly ensure that acknowledgments of cancellations/amendments are received by
reservations. A reservation will be considered amended/ cancelled only once reconfirmed
by reservations to the agent /client concerned.
In the case of Covid-19 situations, no cancellation fee will apply.
Cancellation charges will be incurred as follows:
- Cancellation within 60 to 31 days prior to date of travel will incur a 0% cancellation fee.
- Cancellation within 30 to 15 days prior to date of travel will incur a 50% cancellation fee.
- Cancellation within 14 days prior to date of travel or less will incur a 100% cancellation fee.
- No refunds will be made for no shows or any unused services due to flight delays, strikes or anything else beyond the control of Mseni Beach Lodge.
All reservations are subject to availability, and if necessary, rooms will be put on a waiting
list on a first come first serve basis.
All provisional reservations and requests are held for 7 days only, before we require a 50%
deposit to confirm the reservation, otherwise the booking will expire and be released from
our reservation system. Extensions may be issued on request and subject to availability.
The lodges require a final rooming list 30 days prior to guests’ arrival.
Rates are quoted in ZAR per person. Mseni Beach Lodge reserves the right to amend the quoted
tariffs should there be any change in the percentage rate of VAT or any other levy, tax or
impost becoming payable.
Check-in time is as from 14h00 on the day of arrival, and check-out is 10h00 on the day of
departure.
An early or late check-in/out can be arranged directly with the accommodation
establishment and will be subject to the availability of rooms.
A non-refundable deposit amounting to 10% of the total value of the booking is payable
within 14 days of confirming the reservation. Full pre-payment to be received 30 days prior to travel. If payment has not been received, we reserve the right to cancel the reservation and our cancellation policy will apply. In the event where the reservation is made less than 30 days before arrival, such
reservation must be paid in full immediately.
From King Shaka International Airport -
Turn left onto Mdloti St/M65 and continue to follow M65 Toll road for 2.3 km. Keep left at the fork and merge onto N2 Toll road - 850 m. Follow N2 north until you reach the turnoff to Hluhluwe town. Take the Hluhluwe turnoff and go straight through the town to the roundabout at the end of the main road, where you take the R22 to Sodwana Bay. Stay on the R22 and at Mbazwana town take the A1108 to Sodwana Bay. Enter and pay the entry fee at the park at the iSimangaliso gate, then follow the signs to the KZN Wildlife. At the 2nd gate, fill in the form and follow the signs to Mseni Beach Lodge. Accessible in a normal 2x4 sedan.
From Pretoria or Johannesburg -
Head to Piet Retief, then Ermelo, then Pongola. At Pongola, the N2 turns south. Do NOT take the Jozini town turnoff, even if your GPS chooses this route. It is not tarred and the road is in a shocking state. Follow N2 south until you reach the turnoff to Hluhluwe town. Take the Hluhluwe turnoff and go straight through the town to the roundabout at the end of the main road, where you take the R22 to Sodwana Bay. Stay on the R22 and at Mbazwana town take the A1108 to Sodwana Bay. Enter and pay the entry fee at the park at the iSimangaliso gate, then follow the signs to the KZN Wildlife. At the 2nd gate, fill in the form and follow the signs to Mseni Beach Lodge. Accessible in a normal 2x4 sedan.
Children under 12 years pay 50% of the adult rate when sharing a room with one adult. Children in their own room pay full adult rate. Under 3 there is no charge.
