The town's central position between Cape Town (420 km) and Port Elizabeth (320 km) and its close proximity to other towns of the Garden Route with road, air and rail links to all the important centres in the country, has resulted in George becoming a major distribution, education and medical centre.
Entering from Cape Town:
- On the N2 highway take the turnoff on the left that says George and enter on York Street (the main road in George). Continue straight until you reach the stone Anglican Cathedral on your right, turn right into Cathedral street.
- Continue straight until you reach the four way stop, Oakhurst is situated on your left. On the Corner of Mead and Cathedral streets.
Entering from Port Elizabeth:
- Traveling along the N2 on the left the board indicates George Straight ahead. Continue straight ahead all the way until you reach the N.G Moederkerk on your right (5 traffic lights).
- Turn left at the 5th traffic light. At the four way stop the Oakhurst is on your right, corner of Mead and Cathedral Streets.
Entering from Oudshoorn:
- Continue down the pass entering George, passing the Virgin Active gym and the passed the George Golf club on your right. Continue straight passing the hospital on your left down the hill until you reach the traffic lights (York Street ).
- At this traffic light turn left. Continue straight until you reach the stone Anglican Cathedral on your right, turn right into Cathedral street.
- Continue straight until you reach the four way stop, Oakhurst is situated on your left. On the Corner of Mead and Cathedral streets.
