Outeniqua Mountain Lodge is a small owner managed mountain retreat. We are ideal for people who appreciate nature and an abundance of bird life. Only 55 kilometres from Knysna, our lodge offers a relaxed getaway to experience nature, sunshine and fresh air. We offer Mountain Biking and fabulous Hiking in the area.
Take a lazy afternoon stroll on our peaceful farm, stop for a swim in our mountain water pool or enjoy an energetic walk or bike ride in the fresh mountain air. Enjoy a hike up the Kwaai River where you can see bushman paintings, enjoy pristine water pools and experience unspoiled nature at its best.
If you enjoy mountain biking then you can take the challenge up the mountain or cycle the Prince Alfred Pass towards either Knysna or Uniondale, both offering breathtaking scenic views. There is a myriad of other Mountain biking and Hiking trails, both easy and challenging, also available.
Accommodation at Outenique Mountain Lodge
We have four well-appointed self-catering log cabins that sleep up to 6 people each. Two of the cabins are situated on a dam and the other two above the farm with views over the mountain pass and farm valley. All cabins are well spaced for privacy.
The cabins are fully equipped with a kitchen, a main en-suite bedroom with a queen-size bed and shower. The second bedroom has two 3/4 beds. The second bathroom is equipped with a shower and bath. In the lounge area there is a comfortable sleeper couch and a ceramic fireplace for those cold winter nights. Outside there is a spacious deck with table and chairs. A Stainless braai is provided. All linen and bath towels are provided.
What do you have to bring Lodges?
-Swimming towels. Briquettes & fire lighters for the braai. Food & personal items needed. We do sell Braai Wood.
TiPi Camp:
Our TiPi Camp is an Eco friendly permanent camp tucked away under pecan trees. Here you can enjoy the camps facilities. The camp is ideal for groups & families.
Each tent is equipped with 4 single beds; all bedding, linen & bath towels are provided. For the winter months there is a small ceramic fireplace inside each tent. In a separate building there are 4 private bathrooms, one for each tent. The bathroom is equipped with a hot shower, washbasin, flush toilet and non-removable lamps. The 60sqm lapa consists of a basic equipped kitchen and a dining area with 4 picnic tables. 40sqm of the lapa is under roof. There is a open air fire ball for socializing around in the evening. Spacious open-air braai area. Biofuel 2-plate stoves for cooking. A 320L combination fridge freezer to be shared by the 4 tents. Limited shaded parking for vehicles.

Bain’s Cottage and 200 year old restored cottage, can accommodate up to six persons, communal style. Ideal for families or close friends/biking groups with 6X 3/4 Beds. One large Bath and outside shower.
Large Lawns ideal for all sorts of games. Jungle Gym for children. River swimming.Volleyball. Swing ball. Mountain Biking own bikes required on farm and on the Pass. Game Drives Keurbooms River Game Trails Conservancy member.
We are situated on the prince Alfred's Pass 55km from Knysna & Plettenberg Bay. From Knysna take the R339 towards Uniondale. From Plettenberg Bay take the turn to your left on the R340 towards Wittedrif. At the T junction turn right on to the R339 towards Uniondale.
