Rostock Ritz Desert Lodge is built on the slope of a hill overlooking in the north the Rotstock Mountain range and in the southwest the colourful dunelandscape of the Namib Desert (Namibia).
The farm “Rostock South” lies west of the large escarpment in the eastern region of the Namib Desert.
Rainfall averages less than 100 mm per year, causing the rivers to run periodically.
Small fountains and rock pools are found in the river beds of the Gaub, Rotberg and Witberg rivercourses.
Rotstock Mountain (red gneiss) borders the farm on the northern side and a cave with Bushman paintings is
found here. The rock paintings are still in relatively good condition and are approximately 1000 years old.
Rostock Ritz Desert Lodge consists of 20 double rooms , two of which a fully equipped for the handicapped and
two units are Suites, housed in traditional round buildings, which are aesthetically integrated in the natural surroundings. Unlimited view of the Namib Naukluft Park can be experienced from each room`s balcony.
The impressive scenery around Rostock Ritz has a variety of activities to offer, such as 10 different GPS coordinated hiking trails through the mountains and/or the gorges of Gaub & Kuiseb Canyon, sunset dune drives
as well as a trip to the cave paintings.
