Welcome to Sauvignon Country Lodge, a 100-year-old classified wine farm in Cape-Dutch style in the heart of the Cape Winelands, renovated to perfection and uniting its beautiful historic features with all modern amenities.
The Belgian owners discovered this hidden treasure during a trip of a few thousands of kilometers through the Western Cape in 2011, and immediately fell in love with it. Only few months later, they decided to leave their home in Flanders to make Sauvignon the charming country retreat it has become today.
The 4 luxuriously appointed suites and the well-fitted self-catering apartment are boasting breathtaking views of endless vineyards, fruit orchards and majestic mountain ranges. Sauvignon Country Lodge features a 4000m² landscaped garden (including swimming-pool, pond, breakfast terrace and BBQ ‘braai’ area) and is located on a rural country road amidst the vineyards, only 4 km away from the impressive Groenberg mountains.
Still, Sauvignon remains within walking distance from the town center and its university, so very close to shops, restaurants and many award-winning wine estates (Wellington was awarded international ‘Top Wine Area’ in 2010).

Just 70 kilometers away from Capetown and its international airport, we are within easy reach of various prominent tourist towns and attractions, such as Table Mountain, the Waterfront, Robben Island, Cape of Good Hope, Boulders Beach and its penguin colonies, the historical villages Stellenbosch and Franschhoek… Further, our own village Wellington has numerous leisure activities to offer.
The strongly recommended ‘Wine Route’ starts in our backyard and we are situated along the touristic ‘Garden Route’ and ‘Route 62’ which is the most traveled itinerary in the Western Cape. Moreover Wellington is an important stop on the ‘Brandy Route’ as it’s home to South Africa’s finest pot-still brandies and whisky’s.
Mountain bike hikes (guided by Kris), horse trails through the vineyards and at the foothills of Bain’s Kloof Pass, safari’s and game drives, whale watching, golf, cellar tours and Cape Mountain Whisky tasting. We welcome bikers and specialize in “Vineyard Discovery by Bike” (bicycle and roadbook provided at Sauvignon), which is a great way to taste the typical Boland hospitality at some of our neighboring award-winning wineries and keep in touch with nature along the way.
