Village-style buildings, lush green lawns and spacious rooms situated next to the calming Eerste River are the defining characteristics of the 4 star Spier Hotel. Our 153 rooms are clustered around six private courtyards, each with its own swimming pool. The design is reminiscent of the Bo-Kaap or Mediterranean villages where pedestrians have right of way.
Rolling lawns, gardens and walkways connect the rooms with the reception area, lounge, bar, terrace and restaurant. The dcor features a sophisticated, vibrant style with strong colours, patterns and textures, and a collection of art that explores contemporary South African culture.
The hotel is a pioneer in responsible tourism and was one of the first in South Africa to be awarded the Fair Trade in Tourism SA accreditation in 2004. In 2011, Spier won the top award in the Doing It All category in the Cond Nast Traveler World Saver Award. This followed our success in the same awards in 2007, where we received third place in the overall destination category. The Spier Hotel has also recently won a Gold at the Virgin Holidays Partners in Sustainability Award.
The hotel rooms are spacious with a focus on simplicity, quality and comfort. Every room includes original artwork, making each individual. You can choose between Signature Rooms, Signature Riverfacing Rooms and Suites.
Signature Rooms are spacious with large comfortable beds. The rooms are beautifully but simply appointed, with quality as the key to the dcor. The en suite bathrooms incorporate a large bath and a separate shower. Each room has its own TV with satellite channels to choose from and a shaded outdoor patio where you can unwind with a glass of wine.
Ten Signature Riverfacing selected for their prime positioning are designed to include additional dcor and fittings, and special services. In addition to the features of the Signature rooms, additional facilities are available such as a fully stocked mini bar, free access to Spier`s Wi-Fi service, daily delivery of newspapers, special turndown and iPod docking facilities. Each of the rooms offers a view of the Eerste River and the picturesque Spier surrounds.
Each of the four spacious suites faces the Eerste River and the Helderberg mountains, and has been individually designed to reflect Spiers ethos and celebrate South African culture. The Suites enjoy the services and facilities of the Signature Rooms and Signature Riverfacing Rooms.
