Reputable wine estates, as well as a micro-brewery and cheese farm, are within easy driving distance.
Stanford is the ideal base for exploring the many attractions of this region. From July to December, whales frolic in Walker Bay and can be seen from Hermanus and De Kelders. Gansbaai offers white shark cage diving for the adventurous.
Stanford is also near beautiful nature reserves and is the Overbergs bird-watching capital.
Two hiking trails (2 km and 5 km)available free of charge to guests which meander through the vineyards and Protea plantations. Swimming in the two dams is quite safe or try some fishing in top dam (catch and return).
Take the R43 from Cape Town. Drive through Hermanus towards Stanford. Just before Stanford you will see a sign on your left saying Weltevrede Farm. Take this turnoff and drive for 1 kilometre, and you will see the signs pointing out the cottages and the office.
