Thatchings Guest House is a four star graded Country Style Guest House situated within a Trout and Game Estate, located 10 km from Nottingham Road in the glorious KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, and just a short 2 km from the N3 (the major route between Johannesburg and Durban).

Thatchings Guest House is part of the delightful Midlands Meander - South Africa`s premier arts and crafts route.
Thatchings Guest House lies in a beautiful setting of ancient pine trees, rolling lawns, azalea shrubs and hydrangeas (stunning when in flower), and all overlooking a picturesque trout dam. The Guest House has title to five hectares of land and is completely surrounded by 300 ha of private game estate. With no fences to restrict them, impala, zebras, wildebeest and duikers frequently come onto the property, which makes for an uplifting experience for guests.

Thatchings offers a variety of en-suite accommodation, all under traditional African thatch, such as a Bridal/Executive suite, Junior suite or Standard luxury rooms.

The rooms are tastefully furnished in country style and provided with goose-down duvets and heaters to ward off winter`s chill, magazines, television and tea/coffee-making facilities to make guests stay comfortable.

Thatchings Guest House is a quiet, gentle place in which to ease mind, body and soul. Take a walk in the 300 ha private game estate and you may well see zebras, black wildebeest, eland, red hartebeest, impalas, waterbuck, duiker, reed buck, blesbuck and monkeys, just to name a few of the resident animals. Abundant bird-life ensures that no walk is without seeing something of the fauna of this beautiful region.

Settle into the lounge with its magical view or curl up at a roaring log fire in the guest lounge on those cold or misty days.

We are perfectly situated for exploring the surrounding area with its wealth of experiences. There is easy access to the Drakensberg, Zulu and Boer War battlefields, golf courses and large dams for water-sports just to name a few.

Thatchings is ideally situated to provide accommodation for wedding parties where the ceremony is being held at the popular Providence Country Wedding Venue just two kilometres away.

Large Family suite with a queen size bed and 2 single beds. This suite sleeps a maximum of 4 people and a minimum of 2. There is a full en-suite bathroom. The room is heated and there are electric blankets on the beds. Flat screen television, magazines, fresh flowers and tea/coffee making facilities are provided.

Room 2
Large Family room with a queen size bed and 2 single beds. This suite sleeps a maximum of 4 people and a minimum of 2. There is a full en-suite bathroom. Room 3
Twin room situated upstairs with 2 single beds pushed together. This suite sleeps a maximum of 2 people and a minimum of 1. There is an open plan bathroom. The room is heated and there are goose-down duvets and electric blankets on the beds.

Twin room situated upstairs with 2 single beds. This suite sleeps a maximum of 2 people and a minimum of 1. There is an open plan bathroom. This is our Junior Suite situated privately in the garden. There is a queen size bed and full luxury en-suite bathroom. Sleeps 2. The room is heated and there are goose-down duvets and electric blanket on the bed. Flat screen television, magazines, fresh flowers, complimentary sherry and tea/coffee making facilities are provided.

Room 6/6a
2 bedroom suite with an inter leading full luxury en-suite bathroom. First room has a double bed and the other 2 singles. This suite sleeps a maximum of 4 and a minimum of 3. The room is heated and there are electric blankets on the beds. Flat screen television, magazines, fresh flowers and tea/coffee making facilities are provided.

Room 7
This is our small cottage with 2 small bedrooms and a lounge area. There is a double bed in the first room and a single bed in the other. The cottage sleeps a maximum of 3 and a minimum of 2. There is an en-suite shower. The rooms are heated and there are electric blankets on the beds. Television, magazines, fresh flowers and tea/coffee making facilities are provided.

Room 8
This is a twin bedroom with 2 single beds pushed together situated in the main house. There is a luxury en-suite shower. This suite sleeps a maximum of 2 and a minimum of 1. The room is heated and there are goose-down duvets and electric blankets on the beds. Flat screen television, magazines, fresh flowers and tea/coffee making facilities are provided.

Honeymoon Suite
A large luxury suite with a 4-poster double bed and a private lounge area. The large luxury en-suite bathroom has a spa bath, his and hers basins, shower and loo. This luxury suite sleeps 2. The suite is heated and there is a goose-down duvet and electric blanket on the bed. Flat screen television, magazines, fresh flowers, complimentary sherry and tea/coffee making facilities are provided.
