The Country Garden, situated on Beecatcher Guest Farm, is the perfect place for
you. You will find an informal friendly atmosphere in a beautiful private
setting - a world away from the stresses of modern life. No cell phone reception
or televisions but fantastic views of Towerkop with direct access to the Little Black
Mountains with all its diverse indigenous flora.
Cool off in the dam, go for a
walk on the farm, explore the ravines or bring your mountain bike to explore
the Voorbaat Valley and Vanzylsdamme.
Beecatcher farm is a working farm so
there is an opportunity to get to know the farm animals: pigs, sheep, rabbits,
geese, ducks, chickens and goats. The kids will love it. This is also a
Botanist’s paradise with an amazing variety of flowers and plants.
There’s
always something flowering. And for avid bird watchers there are more than 80
bird species, including Black Eagle, Spotted Eagle, Owls and the European
Beecatchers (after which the farm is named).
Our units are self-catering but we also offer the option of a delicious breakfast basket or braai pack that can be delivered to your cottage. Costs for this are available on request.
Four Farm Cottages can sleep up to 15 guests, and our beautiful Cape Dutch gabled Manor House can sleep 8 guests. The Manor House is situated on another farm 1.5 km down the road.
Has three bedrooms with twin beds and can sleep 6 people. There is a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, microwave, two-plate gas stove, kettle, toaster and large fireplace. A bathroom with a bath, shower and toilet as well as a separate toilet are in the cottage. Covered stoep and outside braai facility. Lovely views of the mountains and farm. All linen and towels are provided. Electric blankets and extra blankets provided for winter months.

This open plan log cabin is privately situated with a double bed, en-suite shower/toilet and is perfect for two people. It has a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, microwave, two-plate electric stove, kettle and toaster. All linen and towels are provided. Electric blanket and extra blankets provided for winter months. Fan provided for summer months.
This cozy cottage has a queen bed and a single bed and can sleep 3 in an open plan style with en-suite bathroom with a bath and hand-shower and toilet. It has a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, microwave, two-plate electric stove, kettle and toaster. All linen and towels are provided. Electric blanket and extra blankets provided for winter months. Fan provided for summer months.
Directions from Cape Town:
An easy 3.5 hour drive, approximately 325 kms from Cape Town. On commencement of the journey, travel on the N1 from Cape Town in the direction of Paarl; continuing on the N1 travel through the Huguenot Tunnel. A tollgate controls this tunnel. A tollgate fee is payable at the tunnel. The first town is Worcester set in the Breede River Valley. Taking the second turnoff to the right into Worcester, you leave the N1 and the Route 60 (R60) is taken. Follow the signs to the town of Robertson. Once through Robertson, the next town is Ashton. The R60 becomes the R62 in Ashton. Travel on through Krogmanskloof and Montagu. Pass straight through Barrydale. We are 87kms from Barrydale. When you have travelled about 70km look out for the sign to Riversdale. Do not turn there but continue for straight on past that for another 4kms and
Turn left for LAINGSBURG
(We are 19kms off R62 before Ladismith town - on the road to Laingsburg.)
Continue for approx 10km.
Turn left @ T-Junction for LAINGSBURG.
(loose Cell phone reception)
Continue for approx 4km.
Turn Right into VOORBAAT (good gravel rd).
Continue for 4kms. (Rock face on the right, up a hill & down, then around several bends)
Continue until you see large blue gum trees and a small bridge over river.
Take immediate next left (sign for The Country Garden / Beecatcher Guest Farm)
Continue along farm lane for about 1km (you will go past several buildings on the left and a small farm).
Keep straight at the fork in the road (sign for Beecatcher).
Keep along the farm road which passes through some other farms and through some newly planted orchards, for about 1km, until you to get to the Beecatcher/Country Garden Guest Farm up against the mountain. Look out for the yellow coloured cottages and proceed up to the farm house at the foot of the mountain, where we will meet you.
