Luxury shouldnt exclude playfulness so The Grand Daddy has infused all its rooms and communal spaces with magical creative touches to ensure that guests are pleasantly surprised by the unexpected, the humorous and the interesting.
The Grand Daddy warm and hospitable staff will guide you through this gentle journey throughout your stay by offering little-known information about the surrounds and the history whilst also performing the necessary business of hotels in a calm and caring manner.
The Daddy Cool Bar
The Grand Daddys hotel bar is the blingest in the land. Its not just a cool bar, its a Daddy Cool bar! A palette of metallic and a roll-call of hip South African creatives come together in a magpies delight.
White leather, shimmery surfaces, dangly bling chains and quirky gold treasures in jewel boxes set the scene for much shiny celebration.
The Showroom Caf
The Showroom Caf serves an excellent range of breakfasts and has a variety of good mood food options for lunch and dinner.
The daily marketplace is a tempting spread of buffet salads, hot bakes and curries and gorgeous home-baked breads you can also go a la carte. Note the extensive wine list too.
The Showroom Caf always chooses fresh (preferably organic).
Accommodation at The Grand Daddy:
Chic yet delicately daring, the Grand Daddys rooms are subtle, stylish and silvery.
Air-conditioned, en-suite and entertaining; the comforts of an internationally recognized four-star hotel room are made all the more delicious when peppered with clever local touches under the direction of Cape Town based dcor-magician, Tracy Lynch.
Lampshades boast South African place names - from Poffadder to Polakwane - and headboards are bedecked with African-aloe silhouettes. Snug furry blankets add texture to cool cotton linen-whites, whilst geographic origami inspires you to plan your travels on silver-etched black globes.
Luxe out in your en-suite marble bathroom as you daydream about adventures, seeping in the ebb and flow of memories that you want to hold onto forever.
Rooftop Trailer Park Experience:
Theres nothing ordinary about going all the way to the United States of America to source seven vintage Airstream trailers, and then hauling them back across the Atlantic and hoisting them onto the roof of an urban hotel. Then again, theres nothing ordinary about the Grand Daddy.
Take the Daddys vintage elevator to our rooftop location in famous Long Street and soak in the alluring outline of Table Mountain as reflected in the polished aluminium of one of our seven trailers.
The seven recently renovated trailers, complete with US Postal Service mailboxes, all have their own individual decor and style, and collectively they reflect the "South African road trip". Drawing inspiration from around Mzansi, our trailers give you a chance to experience different parts of our beautiful country, right here on the roof and they may even inspire you to go and visit these places for real!
Yep, those unmistakably South African vistas have climbed right into the trailers. Each one is as unique as the South African landscape that it encapsulates and each has a story to share.
Airstream trailers are incredible works of craftsmanship and their classic shape is unforgettable. Each Airstream trailer has a queen-size bed, wet room with a shower, and modern comforts like TV, aircon and fridges. Our trailer suite called Winelands is the largest of the Airstream trailers and has an open-plan bedroom with a big lounge area.
The Pink Flamingo Rooftop Cinema:
Celebrating the silver screen in an outdoor cinema right beneath the African sky, the Pink Flamingo Rooftop Cinema is set among seven vintage Airstream trailers on the rooftop of the Grand Daddy Hotel. Snuggle up, and order a picnic basket and some bubbly. This open-air rooftop cinema is a perfect Cape Town experience, open all year round!
With regular showings of films that have stayed in a happy corner of our memories, the Pink Flamingo is part drive-in, part social event and part adventure. Set in the world`s only rooftop trailer park hotel, the Pink Flamingo celebrates the silver screen in a silver setting: right beneath the night sky.
There are three seating options for booking movie tickets: General Seating, the Love Seat and the Couch all these tickets include a welcome drink, bag of sweets and popcorn. Then add a delicious picnic basket to your ticket.
The Pink Flamingo Cinema is also available for private functions, so you can host an awesome event on the roof or arrange your own private screenings.
