Triton Dive Lodge is situated in Sodwana Bay on Kwa-Zulu Natal`s North Coast, and offers accommodation in a natural pine forest, just far enough off the beaten track to ensure peace and tranquility.
Kindly note that over long weekends and peak seasons the room occupancy must be 50% divers.
Accommodation at Triton Dive Lodge:
Our rooms and self catering houses are furnished in an African theme. Wall finishes are rough, packing and hanging space is available with coat hangers. All linen is provided, mosquito nets and fans are supplied. Rooms have power points with 2 prong plugs. Towels and complimentary soap and shampoo are provided. Beds are king size and may be pushed apart to provide 2 3/4 beds.
Accommodation ranges from double rooms, some of which are en-suite, to fully equipped 2 bedroom houses neatly spaced around the premises to ensure maximum privacy. The rooms are airy and spacious with African themes. Ablution block facilities are available to guests, and you can even shower under a huge Umdoni tree with a million stars over head to keep you company.
Guests have access to an equipped communal kitchen (complete with a smiling maid to clean up after you) and a spacious braai area. Self-catering houses are set apart from the rest of the camp and have access to their own braai area and parking. Guests in the self-catering houses also have access to the communal kitchen and the spacious braai area. All units are equipped with linen and bath towels, mosquito nets, and fans. Some units have tea and coffee making facilities, and the en-suite units have complimentary soap and shampoo. Wi-Fi access is also available to guests.
Triton Dive Lodge`s facilities also include a shady decked swimming pool area for cooling off during the day, a restaurant, lounge, curio shop, and a licenced bar with DSTV. Scuba diving courses (beginner to technical) and dives to all the reefs in Sodwana Bay are offered. We are one of the oldest lodges and dive charters in Sodwana Bay, established in 1996 and are the discoverers of the coelacanths in Sodwana Bay. Scuba Diving Instruction and Discover Scuba diving courses presented on site at our lodge. Scuba Diving Charter to all reefs in Sodwana Bay - operated from our lodge. We are situated a mere 10 minute drive from Isimangaliso Wetland Park, world heritage site and home to a coelacanth population. Our dive charter and founding member, Peter Timm, discovered the elusive coelacanths in Sodwana Bay in 2000. You can scuba dive in the morning and do a game drive in the afternoon.
We have endless gum plantations on the one side of our property and these are suitable for walking and hiking, or driving with your 4x4 vehicle.
Tembe Elephant park is a big five park and is home to 150 elephants in seven breeding herds. The gate times in the summer 1 Oct - 31 Mar opens at 05:00 and closes at 19:00. During the winter, 1 Apr - 30 Sept, 06:00 to 18:00. The Tembe Elephant Park is 62 km from Triton.
Ndumo Game Reserve is known for its birding with 420 recorded bird species. Hundreds of majestic fever trees grow along the edges of the pans where hundreds of crocodiles bask in the sun. Gate times during summer 1 Oct - 31 Mar are 0500 to 1900. During winter 1 Apr - 30 Sept, 06:00 - 18:00. The Ndumo Game Reserve is 118 km from Triton.
Hluhlwe Umflozi Park has entrances both in Mtubatuba and Hluhluwe, is also a big five park and is a must to see. Entering at the Mtuba gate and exiting through the Hluhluwe gate or vice versa provides an excellent alternative to driving along the monotonous N2. Gate times in summer 1 Nov - 30 Feb open at 05:00 and close at 19:00. During winter 1 Mar - 31 Oct, 06:00 to 18:00. Hluhluwe Umflozi Park is 110 km from Triton.
Things to see in the Mkuze Game Reserve include a guided sycamore fig forest walk, Hippos in the Nsumo Pan and fantastic hides such as kwaMalibala and kuMasinga. En-route from the Mkuze park to Triton you will pass the Muzi Pans where you will find two bird guides by the names of Themba and Nkosi who will take you on a guided canoe trip to search for the Pels Fishing Owl, this is an experience not to be missed. Driving from the N2 through the Mkuze Park to Sodwana Bay provides an interesting alternative route to Triton. Gate times in summer 1 Oct - 31 Mar, open at 05:00 and close at 19:00. During winter 1 Apr - 30 Sept, 06:00 - 18:00. Mkuze Game Reserve is 40 km from Triton and Muzi Pan is 28 kms.
Sodwana Bay also offers 4 wheeler tours, horse riding, micro light flights, a beauty salon, hair dresser, craft market at the beach, curio shops and restaurants en-route to the beach are many.
R100 admin fee plus:
- In peak periods - Within 30 days of arrival date - forfeit all payment.
- All other periods - Less than 7 days of arrival date - forfeit all payment.
- 7 to 14 days of arrival date - forfeit 75% of full payment.
- 21 to 28 days of arrival date - forfeit 25% of full payment.
