At Vreugde Guest Farm, you can have an authentic Namibian guest farm experience with an authentic, warm welcome from the host family.
The Guest Farm is a small, family-run business, now incorporating three generations of the Brand family - Danie and Elsie, their son, Danie, and his wife, Rachel, and the most recent addition to the family, grand-daughter Isabel.
Vreugde Guest Farm is well-known for its warm welcome and friendly hosts, its quiet and shady garden, the inviting pool, and Elsie`s delicious farm food. The Brand family sits with guests for dinner, so that they can share tales about Etosha and its wildlife, Namibia`s history, as well as providing many tips for getting the most out of a tour around Namibia.
Guests can easily drive to Etosha themselves from the guest farm, as it is a mere 30-minute drive to Etosha`s Anderson gate. Or you can opt for an Etosha game-drive, guided by either Danie (jnr) or Rachel, both of whom have lived and worked in Etosha, and know the Park and its wildlife extremely well.
Accommodation at Vreugde Guest Farm:
All rooms are clean, comfortable and attractive, each with a different colour scheme and different paintings on the outside walls (birds, plants, mammals, bushmen etc).
All rooms open directly onto the garden, and outdoor seating is provided in front of each room. Rooms have overhead fans and fly-screens on the windows, which are built on opposite sides of the rooms so that the wind can blow straight through the rooms, keeping them pleasantly cool in the warm summer nights.
All rooms are en-suite with shower, some with the shower and toilet being in separate rooms. All rooms are prepared to cater appropriately for our guests` needs, with hot-water bottles and blankets provided on the cold winter nights, and light sheets (as an alternative to the duvets) available for hot summer nights. All in all, we promise you a comfortable, quiet, restful night`s sleep.
Activities:
If it is your first visit to the area, we recommend that you consider a guided tour to Etosha National Park. This will not only give you an introduction to Etosha and its wildlife that is full of information and fascinating anecdotes, but will also give you an opportunity to sit back and enjoy the scenery while someone else does the driving for a change! You will then be better prepared to tour Etosha on your own the next time.
Our guides have an intimate knowledge of Etosha NP, having themselves lived and worked in Etosha for two years.
However, for those guests looking for a more relaxing stay at Vreugde, we offer short tours of our working cattle and sheep-farm. Or you can take a relaxed walk through the farm's mopane-bushveld as you try to spot some of our indigenous wildlife, such as warthogs, steenbok and kudus, or the great variety of bird-species.
We offer farm-drives and sun downer drives through our working cattle and sheep farm as well as guided and unguided walks.
We also offer full- and short-day guided drives into Etosha National Park, with a guide who has many years' experience of living and working in and around Etosha.
Children aged 6-13 years pay half-price, whether they are sharing with parents or with another child. Children aged 5 or under stay for free.
One child can be accommodated with two adults in our twin rooms upon request, by the addition of a third bed.
