Wechmarshof strives to create and maintain a space that is one with nature and offers a unique and enjoyable experience to our visitors. You will find us nestled in the Banhoek valley at the foot of Joubert’s piek which forms part of the Simonsberg Mountian range in the Western Cape, South Africa.

The Banhoek valley is known for its picturesque views, top wine estates and a variety of restaurants.  It also produces an array of protea flowers and fynbos, as well as fruit and berries for the local and export markets.  Wechmarshof has an abundance of indigenous trees and plants that attract a large variety of birds and wildlife, including Springbuck, Steenbok, Porcupine, Lynx, Mongoose, Cape Genet and other smaller species.

In-Room facilities:
House Balderjan is a herb that grows in the wild with a strong minty smell and taste and has found its way into homes for centuries where it has been used in the kitchen and for medical purposes.
House Num Num is commonly known as the Natal Plum (Carissa Grandrandiflora), has lovely, snowy white blooms with a delightful fragrance. These are followed by edible, reddish-orange round fruit.

Establishment Facilities:
Additional landscaping brought in a variety of new indigenous and endemic tree species and plants expanding the established rich floral legacy of Wechmarshof.  Ryan also encouraged Jürgen that it was time to do a bold new upgrade of the studio.  The synergy between the guest houses, diverse gardens and landscaping that attracts abundant bird and animal life, would create a space inspiring creativity.  After four years of planning, design and building, Wechmarshof is a testament to this vision.
