White Sands Lodge and Camping is situated directly at Popa Falls on the banks of the Okavango River within the Bwabwata National Park and is the largest of the four protected areas that make up the North-East Park. An outstanding feature of Bwabwata is the high number of large mammal and bird species that are nationally rare and we are only situated 7 km away from the Buffalo Core Area.
The Okavango River is the fourth-longest river system in Southern Africa, running South Eastward for 1,600km. The river begins in Angola, where it is known as the Cubango. Further south, it forms part of the border between Angola and Namibia and then flows into Botswana.
Before it enters Botswana, the river drops 4m in a series of rapids known as Popa Falls. The Falls can be viewed at White Sands Lodge and Camping.
Our community guides will heartily welcome you and lead you along our newly build walkways with different view options of the falls.
