The reserve lies near the road between Theunissen and Winburg (R708) with the turn-off approximately 10 km outside Theunissen.
Theunissen is the most centrally situated town in the Free State, adjoining the potential gold area and is halfway between Bloemfontein and Kroonstad.
Erfenis Dam is a perfect boating and fishing venue the large Erfenis Dam lies above the reserve.The nature reserve is approximately 400 ha in size.
