Arniston/Waenhuiskrans
About 24 km from Bredasdorp lies Arniston/Waenhuiskrans. Being the only village in South Africa with two official names, this remarkable place makes for an interesting holiday destination.
Barrydale
The original inhabitants were drawn to the regions health-giving properties at the likes of Warmwaterbergs hot mineral springs. Barrydale has the contrast of the beautifully severe Klein Karoo vistas right next to a lush and green fertile valley.
Betty's Bay
Betty's Bay is situated between Kleinmond and Pringle Bay and just off the R44 lies the Harold Porter National Botanical Gardens.
Bredasdorp
The town is an important center for the wheat and sheep farmers in the area.The town offers the tourist a shipwreck museum, agricultural museum and many fine examples of Cape Gothic style architecture dating from the 19th century
Caledon
Caledon is a mere 120 km from Cape Town and owes its origin to the hot water springs on the slopes of the Klein Swartberg.
Elim
Elim, about 7 500 acres belongs to the Moravian Church and are only inhabited by Moravians. The Moravian Church is the biggest in the Western Cape with the oldest working clock in South Africa - built in 1757 in Germany.
Gansbaai & Surrounds
Gansbaai is an area of contrast. It is situated in the centre of a number of small bays with miles of unspoiled beaches, nature reserves with over 1500 species of Fynbos, ancient Milkwood forests, rocky inlets, caves and spectacular views across Walker Bay. It is a well-known whale watching and great white shark viewing destination.
Genadendal
Genadendal ('Valley of Grace') was established in 1738 by George Schmidt, who was sent by the United Brethren (Moravian Church) to preach the Gospel to the Khoi people. The focus of the town is the museum complex, which lies in nearperpetual shade under gracious oaks.
Grabouw & Elgin
Situated in the Elgin valley, Grabouw is famous for it's apple industry.The area also known for its forestry and other attractions include the Steenbras Dam, Palmiet Pumped Storage Scheme, Palmiet Hiking Trail and the Four Passes Fruit Route.
Greyton
This arts and crafts paradise is tucked away at the foot of the Riviersonderend mountain range. A quaint town lost in time with its gravel roads and thatched roof cottages is a great destination for those who want to get away from it all. There are several hiking trails in the area. Other outdoor activities include bird watching, cycling and horse riding.
Hermanus
Hermanus is built along the beautiful shores of Walker Bay. The official whale watching capital of the world and a popular holiday destination, Hermanus is surrounded by majestic mountains, indigenous fynbos and spectacular natural beauty.
Kleinmond
This coastal town is situated on a narrow strip between the sea and fynbos covered mountains. Kleinmond thrives during the holiday season and has a great beach and lagoon for the kids and lovely golf course.
Agulhas
Cape Agulhas is the southernmost point of Africa and is where the Indian and Atlantic oceans officially meet. This landmark has become a holiday destination for those who want to get away from the city. Several tidal pools can be found and the lighthouse, established in 1849, offers the tourist an opportunity to step back in time as well as enjoy a cup of tea.

Malgas
Malgas is a small historic village, 35 km inland from Witsand. The focus of activity and tourism in this area is the Breede River. Fishing and birdwatching is very popular at the banks of the Breede River.
Napier
Napier is named after the governor (Sir George Napier) of the Cape at the time (1838). On the farm Hansiesrivier miners searched for gold whereby the Napier Gold Mining Company was established but with a very short existence.
Pringle Bay
Pringle Bay is a quiet coastal village in the heart of a UNESCO World Nature Reserve. The area is renowned for its Indigenous Fynbos Flora and houses more plant species per square meter than anywhere else on the planet.
Riviersonderend
Riviersonderend is a small farming village with a peaceful rural atmosphere, situated on the main Garden Route between Cape Town and Mossel Bay on the N2 - 160 km from Cape Town, and is surrounded with farms. The town offers the tranquility of beautiful mountain and river scenery, a nine hole golf course and a host of other activities. The town is also only an hour away from several beaches.
Stanford
The rural peace and tranquillity of the village is certainly the draw card for Stanford's permanent and weekend residents, and the many visitors who regularly book themselves into one of Stanford's delightful accommodation places.
Struisbaai
Struisbaai is also a holiday destination with many holiday homes, a caravan park and a spectacular beach. The shallow bay with its clear water makes for good swimming in summer. The little harbor always sports a few small and colorful fishing boats.
Swellendam
The Dutch East India Company in 1747 founded Swellendam as an administrative center for the valley of the Breede River. Located at the foot of the Langeberg this historic town with its oak lined streets and Cape Dutch style homesteads has two nature reserves nearby.
Villiersdorp
Villiersdorp services the wine and fruit farms in this area. The nearby Theewaterskloof Dam is a favorite place for those practicing water sports such as windsurfing, sailing and water-skiing.
Witsand
Witsand is a popular seaside resort with unspoilt beaches and a small harbour and is situated at the mouth of the Breede River. The tranquil coastal town has a high concentration of Southern Right whales (JuneOctober).
It is also an important breeding ground for rare birds and home to the Blue Crane, South Africas national bird. Bird watching along the Breede River is spectacular.
