Die Krans Estate is situated between the vineyards at the upper reaches of the picturesque Gamka River Valley. The history of the Estate dates back to 1890, when the farm Die Krans was bought by the Nel Family.
The present cellar was built in 1964 and in 1979 it became an estate wine cellar. A whole range of quality wines are made on the Estate according to the most advanced techniques.
Cultivars such as Sauvignon Blanc. Gewrtztraminer, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, White Muscadel, Fernao Pires and Harslevel are grown on the Estate.
The Estate has won more than 400 medals and awards since 1979 at wine competitions, and has been the Champion Estate of the Little Karoo during a number of years.
The vineyard hiking route is a 30 minute walk through the vineyards of the Estate. Information is given along the route to explain several interesting facts about the different vineyards to the visitors. A vintners platter is offered to visitors during December and April holidays in the lovely dining room, with a panoramic view of the vineyards on the Estate.
During the rest of the year lunches can be arranged for groups of 10 or more by advanced bookings.
