Bushveld Bivouac is a stunning, fully serviced, off-the-grid, self-catering bush camp with accommodation on spectacular tented platforms and a beautiful cottage retreat amongst the abundant birdlife and majestic flora, on an easily accessible 300-hectare farm with a wide range of plains game.

With every detail lovingly considered, each sites offers 2 large, comfortable, 25m2 tents that have high-speed Wi-Fi, private bathrooms, kitchens, plunge pools and fire pits. The sleeping tents are furnished with king-size beds made up of glorious pure cotton linens, ceiling fans, dressing areas and gorgeous custom-made gowns, bathroom and swimming towels are provided. The beautiful bathrooms feature large Italian showers, toilets positioned to benefit from the stunning views and a sliding door for privacy. The separate tented kitchens are fully equipped with two-plate stoves, full-size fridges and all utensils, crockery and cutlery.
Complimentary fresh coffee, teas, sugar, creamer and rusks are provided and pastries and freshly squeezed juices can be delivered to the site by arrangement for an additional fee. The sleeping and kitchen tent each have sides that can roll up with insect gauze remaining, so one can be in the bush without the restriction of ‘walls’.
Even though the sites are self-catering, as an extra at an additional cost, food shopping can be done on clients’ behalf and delicious pre-prepared meals can be ordered, as well as a mouth-watering picnic basket for a day excursion.
Guests can relax around their private fire pit or cool down in the inviting swimming pool and enjoy the views. The sites are approximately 100 m from each other, allowing easy access for groups but still retaining their seclusion. Access between the sites for parties occupying more than one tent is by demarcated paths which are solar-lit at night. Fires will be stacked for lighting but not lit unless a guest is on-site in the interest of protecting our bush.
The lovely open-plan Retreat cottage is furnished with a comfortable queen-size bed and comfortable linen. The en-suite bathroom is fitted with a shower and for convenience, towels are provided. The cosy kitchen is fully equipped with a 2-plate stove, bar fridge, small freezer and a dining area that doubles as a work or socialising space.
Decorated in a multitude of greens, and interesting art pieces, the cottage offers high-speed Wi-Fi, opening to a delightful exterior where guests can sit and enjoy the views. The covered stoep offers an inviting swimming pool, a comfortable lounger and guests have use of an outside shower.
In the evenings, guests can relax at the fire pit and enjoy the roaming game. Wake up to the sound of a black-headed oriel and go to sleep at night to the cry of a fiery-necked night jar after a day of walking our well-indicated trails or cycling our gravel tracks. Or simply soaking up the bush on a comfortable lounger next to your private plunge pool.
Apart from getting to and from your site, and the movement of service vehicles, driving is not permitted on Bushveld Bivouac. The farm has an extensive network of walking trails and is ideal for mountain or e-biking and open-game vehicle game drives can be pre-booked.

The Retreat is exquisitely decorated in a multitude of greens, soft encompassing pure cotton linens and interesting art pieces. The Retreat comprises of a queen-size bed, dining area (doubling up as a work or socialising space), a fully equipped kitchen with a two-plate gas stove, fridge & freezer and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. The cottage has high-speed WIFI.
A delightful exterior will beckon you to sit and relax on the veranda at the table. Enjoy the charm of the plunge pool in summer, comfortable loungers and open-to-the-call-of-the-wild outside shower, warm your feet by the fire at the braai/fire pit area in winter, and revel in the sound of giraffe, wildebeest, zebra or nyala as they rustle in the surrounding bush in the dark of night to the occasional call of lions from nearby Balule.
So named for the magnificent tree towering over the fire pit, Seringa features three platforms – an entertainment deck, a sleeping deck and a bathroom deck offering a romantic outside bath facing the hills of the GaMashishimale, in the Selati game reserve in the distance. Savour a glass of champagne, to complement the setting sun or by candlelight, while relaxing in warm bubbles as the day gives way to the sounds of the evening bush.
Soak up the views of the majestic Klein Drakensberg escarpment (for which Dragon Rock is named) with its red sandstone cliffs and stunning sunsets from the tented kitchen or the fire boma surrounded by rocks, while on the deck, loungers call for relaxation as the cool waters of the plunge pool beckon. Or go down a level for a different perspective and look east at the rising sun from the carved wooden comfort of an Ashanti stool outside the main tent to the accompaniment of a steaming cup of perfect plunger coffee. You’ll wish you never had to leave.
While all our sites were lovingly picked for their incredible views and natural elements (which have been incorporated as far as possible), the panorama from Lillie’s deck is breathtaking. Take in these unparalleled vistas from the wide expanse of deck, with its own star chestnut and bordered by wonderful rock formations. When it comes to the bathroom, the term “room with a view” takes on a whole new meaning.
This suite is named for the beautiful Marula sitting proudly in the deck between the plunge pool and the fire pit. But apart from its marula tree and luxuriant garden, this suite is surrounded by incredible rock features with soft green overtones – emulated in the tent’s soft furnishings – and incredible sunsets. Luxuriate in peaceful hours by the circular pool enjoying the expanse of bush in front of you as you drink it all in.
